Nightmares

I jumped awake.
Goosebumps
Deep breaths
Tears
Okay, okay, it was just a nightmare. At least it wasn't real. I looked around and focused my eyes on El. Thank God she's okay.

She laid next to me, having moved from my grasp as she slept. I needed to have her close. The dream, it was just too much for me to handle on my own.

Usually I just suck it up and do my best to stay strong after having a nightmare. I don't like to disturb her sleep or put my issues on her. I feel so useless and weak, I avoid waking her up. I just can't take it this time though.

" El? " I questioned softly, not wanting to disturb her if she was asleep. She made a quiet noise and small movement. " Are you still awake? " I continued.

She looked up at me after a few seconds, " it's so late Mike, what are you-" she stopped, sitting up to look at me closer. I sniffled, knowing I looked terrible.
" What happened? " She asked, reaching out for my hand. I held her hand in mine, simultaneously holding back tears.
" God El..it was awful..just so awful..." I choked out before she pulled me into a hug.
I held her back, pulling her close. I took in her scent, strawberry lipgloss and eggos. I couldn't help but laugh a little through the tears, she's just so cute.

She pulled away from me to look at me as she said, " what was it about? "
" you " I responded weakly, I didn't want to sound like a total wasteoid but there's no denying I did.
" Me? I'm right here Mike, don't worry about me. " She said, raising her dainty hand to my cheek as she wiped the tears away.
" Just. Just..please don't leave me... "
" Never "
" Do you promise? " I said, breaking the silence after a few seconds.
" Promise. " She responded quietly but her voice was sure.
I watched as El moved closer to me, taking in her features. All of her is just so beautiful...
I closed the space between us, pressing my lips to hers gently.
She deepened the kiss, pulling away and coming back again with more force.
She pulled away, staying close to me, our lips almost touching as we let the kiss linger.

" I love you so much " I said, holding her hands.
" I love you more " She said, a small smile on her perfect lips.
" Impossible " I said, laying down and pulling her with me.
She rested her head on my chest as I wrapped my arms around her, holding her close.

She's my best dream come true.
