chapter 3.

The move. It was currently in place. I had packed my bags within moments of my social worker giving me the news. I was concerned however, because she said she had to get a confirmation of my mums income & the head careworker had to approve. It sounded like a long process, and a process that which I couldn't wait to be over. I couldn't wait to be back in my mums arms, where I bellonged. I couldn't wait to be doing normal girl things that sisters were meant to do. I couldn't wait to go to a normal school, at which I would stay there whether I liked it or not. I really couldn't wait! So I ran. And I ran and I ran and I ran. Until I got to my mums house. Where I hugged her and took in her loving scent. And my sister was there and we was like a normal family. So what if she abused and abonded me when I was 3. And so what if she was an alcoholic and a drugie. That was all in the past, I thought.

Me and my family were all watching an episode of meal or no meal on the telly.

"He should take the meal and leave! I mean, turkey and potatoes and gravy is hardly bad isit?" I said.

"No! He should gamble! He should risk it for the lobster!" my sister said.

"Girls, girls! Let's hear the telly and hear whether he actually meals or no meals." my mother yelled over our little argument. Even though she laughed a bit.

Then there was a bang on the door. Mum quickly turnt the telly off and told us to stay silent. We hushed, as we waited. There was another bang. But this time louder. We were frightened. Seconds had past after the bang, and we had thought that whoever it is had gone away. Mum was just about to turn the telly back on until there was a shout through the letterbox.

"I know your in there Alex! Open this door, now! If not, the police will be informed!"

my social worker yelled through the letterbox. Alex is my mums name, by the way. We froze and stared at each other in fright, then all eyes turnt to me.

"Your not meant to be here are you?" mum whispered very quietly, as she realized my mistake.

"No," I said in embarrasment, " but I just couldn't wait to see you. I missed you."

There was another bang, but this time it seemed it was done by a foot.

"You stupid girl!" mum shouted, in a whispery way.

"You'll probably never get to see me or your sister again! What was you thinking?!"

"I don't know. I wasn't thinking. I loved the thought of a family, and I just couldn't wait any longer!"

In all of this, my sister was sitting there, mute.

"We had a chance to be a family again, and you blew it! Now who knows how long it's going to take for you to be back with me?!" mum

questioned, worriedly, as she reached for the door. I gulped as she twisted the door knob, and imagined what kind of punishment I would get.

As Mum opened the door, a worried careworker burst in and threw herself on to me.

" I was so scared! Are you ok?" she asked.

" ofcourse. Never better. Because I'm here with my family, were I'm supposed to be."

we all looked at her, as we waited in suspense for her to reveale her next line.

"well, I'm afraid after this event, we're going to have to give this a second thought."

Dissapointment filled everyones face. Sharp startes were stared at me, and I could only look and be apologetic.

"I'm sorry. This won't ever happen again! I promise! Please, just give me another chance!"

"No." she replied, firmly, without a second thought.

I sighed as I dragged my sorry self into the car, and didn't even look back. I could feel the sadness in the room. It was over.
