I'm being mocked by a yellow sun and a white cloud.

A normal person should be able to check the weather app without feeling like there's a herd of elephants settling down for the night on their chest, but apparently not. Or am I being generous with the wordnormal? I bite my lip and stare at my thumb, willing it to co-operate with me and just tap the screen; nobody can interact with you through the weather app, Y/n.

"Gaaa!" I shout at the ceiling and throw my phone on the bed. Right, Okay. No big deal. Who needs an app to tell you what the weather's like, anyway? I'd die of shock if it's not grey and raining for a change.

I flop onto my bed and survey the progress of setting up my new room. Not bad. I've achieved quite a lot since I chased Teddy out of here and it looks habitable enough. The first thing I did was throw my polka dot duvet onto the bed ready for when I crawl into it later. I'm hoping that being wrapped up in its familiar, if crumpled, softness will help me sleep tonight and the nightmares won't find me at our new location.

Jin and I lugged my dressing table and mirror up the stairs and we put it opposite the window, but it doesn't look right there. It doesn't look right anywhere. I frown at it; it looks naked without my old photos and sketches of my friends tacked all around the mirror, so there'll be nobody smiling at me when I'm getting ready to face the world. Oh well, I can live without them. I've been doing it since the night jungkook died anyway.

I flip my head forward and back again, pulling my long hair into a ponytail. I stand in front of the mirror and I turn left and right, watching my ponytail swish around my head, and grimace at the DIY ombre job I inflicted on my hair a few weeks ago. Mum said it would go wrong if I did it myself and she was right. I really need to either get the orange bits cut off or have it all dyed back to my natural chestnut brown, but I haven't managed either with getting ready for the move.

I go downstairs and open the living room door to my very frazzled looking parents and a sweaty bundle of three year old energy. Teddy launches himself at me and crashes into my legs. Poor kid must be thrilled to be out of his car seat.

"Y/n!" he squeals.

"Hey, bud. You forgiven me for making you leave my room?"

He shakes his head, but beams at me so I'm not sure the word 'forgiven' is in his vocabulary yet.

"All set, Y/n?" asks Jin, taking off his glasses and resting them on his head.

"I think so," I say, wrestling Teddy from around my knees. "I've finished unpacking anyway."

"Good. You hungry?" he asks.

I'm starving, but I shake my head. "No, I'm fine. I'm all achy from unpacking," I say, then hold my breath as I turn to mum. "I was thinking of going for a run."

Mum springs up from hunching over a battered cardboard box. "No way."

"Why not? I used to run all the time in Seoul."
"It's too dark," she snaps, pulling items out of the box and throwing them on the sofa.

"It's not that dark," I say, looking out the window. It's pitch black. Thanks a lot, night-time. "I'll be fine, Mum."

"You don't know your way around, Yn," she says, her eyebrows angled in concern. "I'll just run up and down the roads. Street lights only. I promise."
"I don't know...it's raining, Y/n. You'll get pneumonia."
"I like running in the rain," I whine. "It's soothing."

"I saw something..." Jin holds up a finger as he rummages through a box then lifts up a head torch like it's a trophy. "Take this. She'll be fine, Jules." I take the torch from him and he keeps his hand outstretched in front of me. "Phone swap time, Y/n."
