"Ben? BEN? Wake up! Please wake up!"

No sign. Joe began to panic. He tried to stay calm, holding onto Ben's hand tightly. To the point where he and Ben had white knuckles.

"Please be okay, please be okay!" He muttered to himself, calling Gwilym, the most sensitive person he thought to call.

"Gwil! Shit! It's an emergency! It's Ben! H-he fell and now he's not awake and I don't know what to do please hel-"

"Joe, Joe! Calm the fuck down what happened!"

"Ben! He, he fell down the stairs, he's unconscious and I don't know what to do! Oh god he's bleeding I don't know what to do!" He almost yelled, the panic stopping him from crying.

"Joe. Check his vitals, call an ambulance, I'll be there in 5 minutes, tops! He'll be okay just try to stay calm and keep him comfortable and roll him on his side, you know- just in case."

Joe did as he was told, resting his phone between his shoulder and his cheek, checking Ben's pulse and breathing. Everything seemed fine.

He rolled Ben towards him, stroking his arm with his left hand, whilst dialling 999 with his right.

"Hi, Yeah hello, It's my..er..my friend. He fell down the stairs, he's unconscious"

"Yes he's still breathing...NO I DIDN'T FUCKING PUSH- I'm sorry, i- please. HURRY!" Joe panicked. The operator reassured him, telling him what to do until the ambulance arrived, which she said would be within the hour but you know what ambulances are like.

As promised, within 5 minutes Gwilym opened the door, kneeling down next to Joe to assess the situation and comfort a panicking Joe

"Oh thank god! We were messing around, chasing each other and he fell oh god what if he dies?"

"Well that explains the shaving foam I suppose.. anyway, he'll be fine. His breathing is fine, his pulse is normal. Just stay with him, note any changes and I'll look out for the ambulance. Shout me if you need me!" Gwilym rubbed Joe's shoulder before heading outside, leaving the door ajar.

Joe couldn't bring himself to cry, all he could do was panic, and sooth Ben, not knowing whether or not he could hear him

Soon enough he heard a siren from outside. He sighed with relief. He backed away as the room was flooded with green jackets. His vision became blurred as he struggled to understand what was happening?

"Hi we understand you're close to the patient? We're going to take him in just to check on him. He will be fine we just need to keep him in for observation. Would you like to ride in the ambulance with him?"  A sweet, female voice broke him out of his trance.

"Uh, Yeah I'm his b-his friend!" Joe stammered before following the lady to the flashing van.

He took Ben by the hand before it was swiftly moved away from him.

Ben was awake!!

"Ben! You're awake!"

"Don't, Joe. Don't touch me." He slurred, obviously high on the painkillers

"Ben, you don't know what you're talking about" he touched Ben's hand again, before Ben slowly pulled away again.

"Yeah, you're right. Thanks for being such a good friend!" He spat.

Joe wasn't sure what was going on but it couldn't be good.

"What the hell was he talking about? Why is he pissy?" Joe thought to himself, following the nurses pushing Ben's bed along the blue corridors.
