Study

Eileen and I were only 2 minutes late for our study class, but we had a pass so we didn't get in trouble. Either way, our teacher, Ms. Turner, is pretty laid back when it comes to being a little late. She's only like that because it's not an education course. So Eileen and I took our seats, next to each other of course, and we decided to see if we had any homework together.

"What classes do you have homework for?" I asked her.

"I don't have any actually. I had tests in all my classes today, and Ms. Hart didn't give us any so...." She said.

"I had a quiz in geometry so none for Grella, Lynch was out today so none for Physics, and Parker didn't give us history so I guess none for me either. Works out well..." I replied.

"How does that work out well?" She asked.

Shit! I gotta come up with a lie!

"Uh, I don't like homework so it worked out well where I didn't have any tonight....?" I answered.

"Oh, that makes sense."

I let out a quiet sigh. I was safe from my secret.

Since I didn't have any homework, and I'm not allowed to play games on my iPad at school, I took out my book that I've been reading. Th1rteen R3asons Why by Jay Asher. It's been really good so far, and I'm already a little over half way through it.

That's really all I did in my study. I didn't even talk to Eileen. It was weird. Maybe because I'm leaving tonight? I don't know. I just kept reading my book, and ended up finishing it. I surprised myself by doing that. Okay.

I decided to read the afternoon announcements that are sent to our iPads. My name was in it twice, reading, "Mary Larson, please see Ms. Burke before leaving school today" and "M. Larson, please report to Ms. Osgood after announcements.". Well now I have 2 reminders... Great! To be honest, I just want the day to end. I want my life to end. There is nothing left for me. I swear!

I looked at the clock, 10 more minutes. I decided to go see Ms. Osgood and Ms. Burke. And if they had classes, I would just wander the halls or go empty my book bag into my locker.

"Eileen..." I leaned over whispering.

"I'm leaving so I'll see you later." I lied. But only at the "see you later" part. I didn't know if I would be seeing her again.

"Why are you leaving?" She asked.

"I have to go see 2 teachers so I'm going to see if I can see them now. I already looked at the announcements."

"Oh okay! I guess I'll see you tomorrow!"

"Yeah... See ya later!" I said kind of sad. Eileen was an amazing friend. I'm going to miss her so much.

So I went up to Ms. Turner and asked for a pass to go see Ms. Burke. She didn't ask why, and just gave me the pass. That was strange. She always asks why. Maybe she's busy. I don't really care.

So I left the cafe and proceeded up 2 flights of stairs to one of the English halls. Ms. Burke's room was room 308. It's kind of hidden in the staircase. I like that. It's almost like a mystery room. The door was shut and the light was off. I looked in the window to see a class in there watching a movie.

"Okay." I said to myself, then I proceeded on back down 1 flight of stairs to Ms. Osgood's room. Her door was open so I decided to do just a "casual walk by while looking in the classroom" type of thing. She had a class too. So I went down another flight of stairs to my locker. Locker number 1239. I entered my combo, and took everything that was in my bag and put it in my locker. I didn't have the time on me but before I could take out my iPad, everyone was leaving their classrooms. Perfect timing was what I thought to myself. So I shut my locker and went back to Ms. Osgood's room since she wanted to see me first.

As I'm standing outside her room, I take a deep breath, and walk in... Scared with what she is going to continue to discuss with me.
