Physics was over and Holly and I went our separate ways. Unfortunately, we only had physics and English together. We don't have English today so we each said, "See you at lunch.".
As I walked into Geometry, I realized I forgot my notebook in my locker. I asked Mr. Grella if I could go get it, and he said quickly. I practically ran to my locker and because I was in such a rush, I kept entering my locker combination wrong.
"4-35-00... Nope!"
"4-34-01... No again!"
"4-34-00... Finally!"
I grabbed my notebook and got back to class before the final bell. I sat in my seat and let out a soft sigh. A friend of Christina's, that I've gotten to know since she died, Melody, leaned next to me and whispered,
"That's a record."
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"For running to your locker and back." She said.
"Oh. Cool." I replied, not really caring at all.
Melody was nice and all but she wasn't my typical friend like Kelly, Holly, Eileen, and Christina. Christina may be dead, but she's still the best friend I've ever had. I wonder if she's watching me at all. We had practically every class together, except gym and health. While she was in health, I was in gym and vice versa.
Geometry is super easy for me. Others, not so much. Melody is always asking me for help since I'm the only one next to her. I'm on her left and to her right are the windows.
Mr. Grella was in the middle of teaching when the intercom buzzed three times. One time equals lunch, two times equals fire drill, and three times equals lockdown. I could hear Mr. Grella whispering to himself, saying stuff like, "Why must it be during my lesson?". I could tell he was kidding though. He likes to goof around when he can. And he's super funny. I'm glad I got him as a teacher because he only teaches one geometry class. I was lucky.
We were in the lockdown for about a half an hour when the intercom buzzed and said we could return to whatever we were doing. I could hear Mr. Grella praising the intercom. I couldn't help but chuckle. As soon as he saw me chuckling I stopped. As much as I liked his class, and him as a teacher, I know he doesn't like me. I just have to accept the fact not everybody likes me. It's usually adults that like me so I can't really see why Mr. Grella doesn't like me. I'm the smartest kid in his class! It's only Geometry and English that I'm smart at. Every other subject, I'm no good at. I come so close to failing them. I try not to let it go to my head. Besides, the most popular clique in school hates me although I did nothing to them.
The most popular clique in school consists of cheerleaders, gymnasts, dancers, and football players. No surprise there. It's always those kinds of people. The leaders of the group are all girls, so basically cheerleaders, gymnasts, and dancers. Trisha and Piper from the cheerleading squad, Ally and Monica from the gymnastics team, and the dancers, Makayla and Darcy. I hate them just as much as they hate me. They are the ones that bully me everyday. They also get a new group of kids to bully me every week. Lucky for me, they're all away at some game event for tonight.
I guess I daydreamed for a bit because next thing I know it's time for a pop quiz. Lucky for me, I know what the quiz is on. I took a summer course on geometry so I'd know more. I love math. The quiz was on finding the areas of different shapes. Phhhpt! Piece of cake!
After everyone was done, Mr. Grella decided that he would grade them right then and there. Of course I aced it with a perfect score of a 100%. No surprise there. But when I got my quiz back, there it was, in big, fat, red letters.
"SEE ME!"
Right there, next to my grade. Oh, brother. What now? It's bad enough he doesn't treat me equally, now I'll have to listen to his bullshit about something I didn't do! Next thing I know, it's time to switch classes. I tried to sneak out the door but Mr. Grella caught me.
"Larson!" He called out. He likes to call people by their last names.
I stopped in my tracks, slowly turned around, looked him in the eyes, and said, "Yes?".
"Come here." He said as he motioned for me to come towards him.
"I'm going to be late for history, Mr. Grella. Can we discuss whatever this is another time?" I asked him as politely as I could.
He let out a loud sigh and said, "Come see me before you go to lunch. It's urgent that I speak to you. You understand?".
"Yes, I understand. Thanks!" I answered back and practically darted out of the room.
I made a beeline towards my locker to meet Kelly so we could go to history together. We always meet at our lockers since they're side by side. Kelly and I share homeroom, history, and French together. We don't have French today so it's just history for us.
I am so dead. Especially with practically every teacher needing to see me today! Ugh! Of all days, why today? Do they know my plan for tonight? I can't help but wonder...
