Chapter 12: Broken Badboy

I walked into English praying that it would be over fast, I knew Mrs. Sanchez hated me now.

The bell rang and she walked in, "Okay class I am going to start of the period by letting you know that you will have a book report due next Friday."

The moans started, "Hold you complaints until the end. You will work in partners."

There were cheers then she finished, "But I will be choosing them for you." 

And the moans were back and I couldn't help but join them, I didn't want to be paired with Britney, that would be horrible.

"Okay Britney you will be with Gary, ..." she continued but I tuned out until I heard my name, I was so happy I wasn't with Britney, "And finally Scarlett, since you and Hunter seem to enjoy talking to each other you will be partners for this assignment."

I turned around to see a grinning Hunter, great.

It was about seven thirty when I heard the door bell ring and got up to get it but my mom got it.

"Hello." Hunter greeted.

Before she could reply I looked at my mom and said, "I'll be right back." then stepped outside to talk to Hunter.

"Hey whats up?" I asked a little confused.

"Um can we go get some hot chocolate?" he asked, I could tell he was nervous and possibly even sad.

"Sure." I hesitated, I ran inside got my shoes and told my mom I was going to the park.

We got in his car and he drove to the cafe, we were silent the whole way there.

When we got inside the cafe we ordered and sat down, "Whats wrong?" I asked.

"Um I-I know that w-we aren't really friends or anything r-really, but I-I feel like you are the only person that will listen." He said obviously nervous, I had never seen him like this before.

"What is it Hunter?" I asked.

"My Grandfather is sick and dying." he said.

I gave him a confused look, "Then why are you not with your parents at the hospital?"

We went and grabbed our drinks and were heading back to our table when he answered, "Scarlett you don't understand, I don't have a mom or dad," I froze, "My mom died from cancer when I was three and my dad didn't want anything to do with me." My drink slipped from my hands and shattered as it made contact with the floor.

"Don't act so surprised." he said.

"So that means you live with your grandparents?" I asked.

"Yes." he answered the sad look on his face returned.

"Oh my God, Hunter I'm so sorry." I said as we sat down, but instead of sitting across from him I sat next to him.

"I don't know how my grandma will make it with out him. I have to do everything for them, such as pay the bills, get groceries. I have been and adult since I was five and learned hoe to be."

I could tell he was hurt and I had no idea how I could help him, so I hugged him. Surprisingly he hugged me back, and we sat there, hugging, until he finally let go.

He looked me in the eye as I let him go and put his hand on my cheek, "Why are you so nice to me?" he asked still holding my gaze.

I was at a loss of words, he took my breath away.

I tired to answer but the space between us just kept getting smaller and smaller, my heart was beating out of my chest. When our lips were just millimeters away, I knew what was going to happen next, I just couldn't decide whether I wanted it or not. But before I could make up my mind our lips were touching and my eyes were closed. It felt amazing to be kissed by Hunter Grayson, now I knew why all those girls were raving about being kissed by him. 

I heard the sound of a camera taking a picture and immediately let go. Britney was standing there with her phone in her hand, smiling really big. I couldn't believe it I was caught kissing Hunter I knew the first thing she would do would be to send it to Julian.

I got up and ran for her phone, I wasn't going to let her get away with it. But Hunter grabbed me, "Don't do it Scarlett, lets just leave."

He grabbed our things and we left."

When I got home all I could think about was the kiss. He left me wanting more, when he kissed me I didn't want to stop.

I know it was probably just a pity kiss, because he was in a state of sadness, but I didn't want it to be.
