Part 17

We break apart from the kiss, and I don't know about him but I am out of breath. "I've been wanting to do that for a very, very, long time," he says, almost in a whisper. I nod my head, "Yeah, me too actually." 

We spend the next few minutes just in each other's embrace, staring into the horizon. "I should get you home, we still have school in 2 hours," he says. I climb onto his back and he takes off towards my house.

 I climb back up my trellis, I left my window unlocked. I climb back in my bedroom and look back down to Peter on the ground, I smile and wave at him and he shoots his web and flies off in the direction of his place. 

I strip out of my suit and put it back in its place under my bed, I have only two hours to sleep before my alarm would ring but, I don't think that I can. I lay back on my bed and put my hands over my face. (Authors Note; picture Peter doing the same thing in his room, how cute right?) I just kissed Peter Parker, my best friend, wow. I can't even describe the feeling, it's like I felt soft but intense waves of warmth and feathers course through my body the moment our lips touched. My heart hasn't stopped beating fast, and I can't help but crave the feeling again. 

I now understand what I feel for Peter, how intense my feelings are. It is a little bit scary, to be honest, but, that's what makes things interesting.

I yawn out, "Yes, you can," I'm speaking to my biology teacher who asked the class a question. This is now my least favorite class because Mj sits rights beside me, I've caught her looking at me twice. I write down the notes in my notebook and just keep looking to the front of the class. My teacher is just going over things I already know, so I take out my phone and text Peter. 

"hey," I type out and send. Less than a minute later a message comes in from him, "Hi, I wish we had more classes together, this class is boring and I know you would make it better." I smile at the message and type back, "yeah me too, but i'm excited about lunch, after that we can spend a few hours together, including going to training." I smile just thinking about seeing him again, ahh, I feel so giddy. 

"What are you smiling for?" my mood is instantly ruined when I hear Mj's voice from beside me. I ignore her and wait for a new message from Peter to pop up, I'm waiting and suddenly she snatches the phone from my hands.

"Give it back," I say and reach for it, but she pulls it away before I can reach. She looks at my recent texts and sees that I messaged Peter. Before she can click on his name I stretch over and grab my phone back. "Don't touch my things again," I say quietly but forcefully, trying to control my powers. "So, you were texting Peter, aw, how cute of you." I roll my eyes at her and look at the text from Peter, "I almost forgot that we have training today, it will be fun!" I text back, "yeah, talk to you later okay?" 

I shut off my phone and tuck it in my jacket pocket on the side of me where Mj can't reach it. She doesn't talk to me for the rest of the class, and I'm glad for it.

I'm just outside of the classroom walking when Mj bumps into me, knocking my things on the ground. "You dropped something," she snidely says. I clench my fist and pick up my things as she walks down the hall. I really, really dislike her, how was I ever friends with her?

Lunchtime again, I am so excited to see Peter. As usual, I walk down with Ned to our lunch table. For the second day in a row, Mj is sitting right there on the dark blue metal bench, talking to Peter. 

I get angry again, I can feel the heat growing inside of me, running through my veins. But, then Peter spots me and smiles. 

Who knew a smile could tame a lion? 

"Hey," he smiles at me while I sit down, I blush a little but return the smile. "Hi, how has your day been?" I ask him.

Mj has registered that she is not a topic of interest anymore and walks off, I suppose to the library. I feel myself relax as she goes away.

 "My day was pretty decent,  I got an A+ on my test in AP Calculus, but now my day is really good," he winks at me. I shake my head at him, "Good job on your test." "Thank you," he says while nodding his head. 

Ned looks at us, "What's going on between you two?" he points with his pointer finger between Peter and I. "Nothing," we say in unison, causing us to giggle.

Spanish class with Peter went by as usual, and now, it is time for the decathlon meeting. Peter and I head to the library and I resist the strong urge I have to kiss him. 

He's just so beautiful. 

We make it to the meeting room, and Jack goes to sit in his usual place in the library. The meeting commences by Mj's request, and even though I don't particularly like her at the moment, at least she does a good job leading our team. 

Peter is explaining a rather tough question when Flash interrupts him, "Parker, you just keep babbling on, get to the point." I shoot him a death glare. "Careful Flash, that's Jaina's boyfriend you're talking to," Mj says with a smirk. "Is this true Parker?"Flash says. Peter just turns red and crosses his arms. "Nah, Jaina is way too hot to date you," Flash scoffs. This time, Peter is the one who gives the death glare to Flash, "Shut up," he says in a low tone voice. 

Everyone goes silent, and just before Flash opens his big mouth again, Mj speaks, "The meeting is over, let's all go home." Everyone begins packing up their things and leaves, Peter and I are the only ones left in the room. "Sorry I'm being so slow," I apologize, "I just have to go get Jack, you can go wait by the car." "Okay, I'll see you out there," he goes and walks towards the exit. 

I quickly grab Jack, and we rush out of the door, well, I rush, Jack lags behind. We walk through the double doors to the parking lot, and I look towards my car, which is the only one in the lot but Peter isn't there. That's when I hear Jack gasp, I look at him as he stands in front of me and my eyes follow his gaze. 

I turn around and see Mj with her lips pressed to Peter's, and her hand tangled in his chestnut hair. 

I gasp loudly and turn to face Jack, I hurry towards my car. I want to be as far away from the two of them as possible, and I can't seem to get away fast enough. I fumble with my keys as I hear Peter yelling my name, "Jaina! Please listen to me, I didn't kiss her!" he tries to tell me, I don't hear him talking clearly, it's like he's trying to speak to me while I'm underwater. 

"Liar," I say lowly through gritted teeth. "Jaina, your eyes," Jack whispers to me, "I can't get the damn lock open!" I scream in frustration. "Give me the keys," says Jack, he opens the car door and stands in front of it, "I'm driving home today." I don't even care to argue, I'm overwhelmed with my emotions, I feel like all of the air has gone away and I'm left suffocating. 

"Jaina please, believe me, it was a setup! I don't like her, I like you! I would never do this to you, please believe me!" he says the words but I can't accept them. 

"Just give it up Peter, she's not worth the time," Mj says, standing a few feet away with her arms crossed. I can't suppress my rage anymore, I storm over to her and push her hard. "You BITCH!" I try to hit her but both my arms are held back. "LET ME GO!" I yell at Peter and Jack. "NO! Get in the car Jaina," I keep trying to struggle away from them, "NOW!" Jack says. 

I finally give up and go to the car, I open the passenger seat door, get in and put on my seatbelt. Jack gets in on the drivers' side and does the same, about to drive. I hear Peter yelling after the car but I don't dare turn around. I see him grow smaller in the rearview mirror as Jack drives away, and I break into tears. 

This is a pain...like no other.
