Did Zach really just ask me if I was single? He should know the answer already; if I was dating someone, it would go around the school pretty quickly.

"Uh...what?" I step to the right, trying to grab my mom's hand. "You single?" Zach asks again, nodding his head in the process. "Yeah," I answer, finally getting a hold of my mom's hand after scrambling to grip onto it for the past seven seconds. "What's it to you, Herron?" I sass, putting my right hand on my hip.

My mom jerks away my hand from hers and shoves me slightly with her left shoulder. "Vi!" She whispers into my ear. "Don't be rude!"

I roll my eyes as I put my arm down and head forward to the kitchen to grab a drink.

I hear my mom behind me in the dining room apologizing to The Herron's for my "terribly disrespectful behavior" as I open the fridge to grab a water bottle from the right door.

I shove the fridge door closed with my left hand and push up my glasses on top of my nose. "I'll be in my room, call me if you need me." I walk past The Herron's, Kairi, and my mom, who is now sitting at the table with the rest of them.

I make it to the stairs before my mom calls after me. "No, you're not," I stop in my tracks and backtrack to the dinning room. "You're going to get to know The Herron's, I'm assuming you know Zach already, am I correct?" She continues, looking back at me with a disapproving frown covering her lips. "Yes, mom. I know Zach." I mess with my glasses once again and try to hold back the temptation to roll my eyes at her comment.

"Then you need to know every single person in their family, the same way you do Zach, Victoria."

Oh, shit. My mom called me by my full first name...that is not a good sign. She only does that when I'm in trouble, then she'll let all of the anger that was bottling up inside of her out about ten seconds after, but if there is company over, she'll let out her anger after they're gone. Either way, I'm in trouble big time.

I sigh and pull out a chair at the dark wooden table, having high hopes that my mom won't yell at me. Unfortunately the only open seat there was was the one next to Zach, but at least Kairi is on my left.

I plop my butt on the seat and slouch down into my hoodie, placing my water bottle down onto the table in the process.

Zach leans over to me, smirking. "Why so moody? Are you on your period or something?" He whispers into my right ear.

I barley even know Zach and he is asking me if I'm on my period? What is wrong with him? That's my own personal business!

I try to maintain a nice look as I lean over to Zach's left ear and I answer his weird question with a simple, "no". He scoffs in response and widens his eyes. "Then why are you so moody, Victoria?" He whispers back.

He said my name like I'm like some of his little one-night-stands. Sexually. That's makes me more uncomfortable than you would think. I'm basically squirming in my seat thinking about it!

I sigh once again, "Because you're here!" I whisper-yell. He chuckles in response and leans back to his spot.

"If you two want privacy, just go to Vi's room so you don't have to whisper the whole time." My mom suggests, turning her head to the right to look at Zach and I at the end of the table. "I would love to see Victoria's room!" Zach replies happily, giving my mom a toothy grin. "Is that ok, Dad?" Zach asks the strange man across from him who is apparently his dad.
