"I put my hand to the sky, I sing
Grateful for the blessings you bring
Thank you for the ones I love
Forgive me for the times I was
Down and confused, I know
What I reap is what I will sow
Once again I find myself
Back with you from my hell"

"Happy birthday, baby sis." She ignores my wish like she's been doing my presence since I've arrived.

"How long you gon' sit here a pretend like I don't exist?" I decided to speak up after almost 45 minutes of absolute silence. When I arrived, we both stood in the doorway in shock. My arrival placing an uneasy moment between us. Surprisingly she let me in but only to let us sit in a weird moment. A moment I never thought I would have with my sister. My only sibling. "Jazelle..." I call out for her after she ignores my second attempt to hold a conversation.

"Jasai..." She responds in a dull manner keeping her focus out the window.

"I haven't seen you in over a year and you won't even look my way." I knew our reactions to seeing each other would be different. I wanted to embrace her and tell her how much I missed her. She brought her typical stubborn self but she wasn't attempting to argue which was good for now.

"Who's fault is that?" She counters back smartly. Never mind, I take that back.

The ultimatum she bestowed upon me was one of the hardest decisions I had to make. When she didn't come out after 20 minutes I knew something was up. I knocked on the bathroom door and got no answer so I decided to break it down but when I walked in she was ghost. I tried calling her for 45 minutes before Travis was busting through the door looking for her. We rushed back to the villa but there wasn't a trace of her except for her wedding ring. She didn't bother to leave a note or anything. Til this day I still don't understand why but I was hoping to get answers to those unresolved questions.

I sigh heavily as we go back to sitting in yet another uncomfortable silence. Her focus stays on the nature brewing outside. The misty air, gloomy sky and dark foreshadow. The rain drumming against the window off pattern.

Being in this situation only forced my mind to think back on the situation. If I had to go back and change my answer would I? Absolutely. Having no relationship with my sister has been one of the hardest parts of living out my everyday life. I wish I handled the situation with more empathy but what's done is done.

I was starting to realize that maybe this topic was off the table. Maybe shifting the conversation would help her open up more. "You're doing good for yourself I see." I scan her living room area that was beautifully and neatly decorated. She always had great taste so I wasn't surprised.

"I'm alright."

"I missed you." She shook her head in disbelief. "You don't believe me?" It truly hurt that she didn't because I missed her beyond words. She wasn't the only one hurting from this. When she left that nigga Travis she left me too despite the fact that she offered for me to come too.
