Plot Synopsis

Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles decide to investigate a shady mansion after catching word about it in the community. The people have been too scared to look inside because of all the rumors that have gone around and for good reason. The mansion itself has one dark secret that our heroes will wish they had never encountered. A secret of unimaginable terror...

Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles are out on a stroll, or at least that's what they would be doing if they weren't going on another adventure. Word had spread around that there was this mansion out in the middle of nowhere that has gained somewhat of a reputation. Sonic, full of curiosity, decided to check it out. Tails wanted to come with, not because he was curious, but because he wanted to make sure Sonic was safe. Knuckles had eavesdropped on their conversation about the mansion and he wanted in as well. Sonic agreed for them all to come with.

Despite the darkness of the night, they were all able to see the sketchy mansion that the people were gossiping about. The building was worn out. The roof was made of dark red tiles. The windows were all closed and the wooden frames of them were chipped. The outside walls were made of the darkest wood imaginable. No one was able to see inside because there was no lighting within the mansion. The door was brighter than the rest of the house and it was open by a crack.

"Well, this is unsettling," said Tails was a bit of a shiver.

"I'm sure it's nothing we can't handle!" Sonic spoke with courage and enthusiasm.

"Yeah. This should be no problem," said Knuckles with a snap of his fingers.

"Race you guys to see what's inside unless you're both scared?" Sonic said with a snicker.

"Scared? You know me, Sonic. I do not scare easily." Knuckles turns his head away from Sonic in a proud manner.

"Whoa! What's that?!" Sonic quickly points past Knuckles. Knuckles turns his head to see what it was. Sonic quickly shakes Knuckles and lets out a quick yell. Knuckles jumped and gain a fearful expression on his face. He quickly became irritated and punched Sonic on his right arm. Sonic couldn't help but laugh, despite the small bit of pain on his arm from the punch.

"We still doing that race you mentioned?" Knuckles said with a smirk. He ran off to the mansion. Sonic followed behind him and Tails reluctantly followed as well. Knuckles is still charging towards the door. Sonic and Tails slow down, noticing that Knuckles is getting closer to the door at full speed.

SMASH!!!

The door was rammed down! The hinges on the door frame were still intact with some wood leftover from the broken door. The door itself was lying on the floor with Knuckles sitting on top of it. Sonic and Tails peek in to see the carnage. Knuckles was muttering something, but it was hard to tell if he was laughing or if he was speaking gibberish as if he hit his head extremely hard. Tails walks over and reaches out for Knuckles' hand and pulls him up.

"I think you got a little carried away..." Tails said.

"I was... I was in the mood, okay?"

"When I said 'race' I didn't mean destroy everything in your path," said Sonic with a smile that was clearly holding back laughter.

"Well, maybe you shouldn't pull pranks on me. That way, I won't be on edge."

"Can't make any promises," says Sonic with a smug smile. Knuckles looks at Sonic aggressively before his attention is diverted by Tails.

"Man... This place gives me the creeps."

"No wonder people have been talking about this!" said Sonic stroking his chin with his finger and thumb. He looks on in curiosity and amazement. The inside looks more elegant than the outside. The floor was made of dark blue wood and the walls were white with a slight tinge of moss green coloring. The ceiling had a metal chandelier and the architecture was brimming with gothic artistry. There were maroon curtains up against each window and the center staircase also had a maroon rug running all the way up to the second floor. The wooden railings had some cobwebs and the wood on them was worn out. There were two candles sitting on the first step of the stairs, the only light source that was present in the room. Sonic walked up and grabbed one of the candles. Tails took the second one with Knuckles standing beside him.
