i didn't give you the space you needed
because you are a man
and inherently you're a bit different
i don't know many men,
i didn't know many to begin with
in the space where my father began and ended sat a label that read reservedi'll give you space to breathe
because you deserve it
and i can't let you be the man
if i'm playing that too,
i've only witnessed women play both roles;
my mother did effortlessly
i'm sorry in advance for the pressure,
for me
forcing you to be everything i want you to be
it's unfair and that's not what romantic relationships are made of
i'm growing and learning.please be patient.
