Few months ago...

Nothing more than what he does during a late dry season evening. Soaking up the last warm of the blazing sun turning orange before disappearing beyond the horizon. Nathen felt completely relaxed and his body was filled with warm, ready to move when the night grows cool. He needs to be ready. For tonight, he will hunt for something big. The last few meals of small mammals and other creatures have long sustained his hunger until his body needed for something big.

As his eyes stare at the colour changing sky, he thinks of all sort of large meals he could hunt. A jaguar would be nice though he rather avoided injuring himself. Their claws if not their teeth can leave nasty marks. Caimans are nice and easy, capybaras too. But if lucky, he might come across a river dolphin. Already, his mouth drools at the thought. However one more came to mind. Rare to find out here: humans.

He was always curious about them. They are like his kind, expect they bare legs of their own instead of the tail of the snake. But he knows the taste of them. They are nothing like any other animals and so easy to capture. No need to fight, one stare and they are mindless dinners. But they are now so hard to get. They are barely alone and stay close to their homes. If only he was born in the time, humans would sacrifice their own to please them and spare their own.

But that stopped hundreds of years ago, when other humans, paler than the ones here wearing clothes of metal and hold weapons that can shoot fire from a far and bring the sound of thunder. At least that what he was told by his father when learning about them. Nathen snaps out of his thoughts and notices the stars appearing in the sky. Time to hunt.

Sliding through tree to tree was easy for him. He knows that normal snakes even the largest would have trouble moving at this speed in the trees. But his kind, benefits of having a humanoid upper body is to be able to move faster. Having arms and hands to reach out and grab branches and pull their entire body to make the movement flow. The surrounding environment grew ever darker with every minute but when night comes, his eyes sight changes.

Almost perfect sight in the dark with a slight sight of heat signature luminating off the warm living creatures. Able to see any that blends in or hide in his world. Suddenly his nose catches on a familiar yet un-living smell. Not of an animal but something that has his mind warning him about something: smoke.

And where there is smoke there is fire. Nathen paused for a moment. He had witnessed fire dangerously spreading in the rainforest before though they are usually ended quickly. He waits and listens. There were no loud roars of flames only cracks. The smoke was there but is only a minor. A small fire perhaps. Cautiously, he crawls towards the small before he could see in the distances a small light in the dark. But it was what he heard that made him excited.

"That should keep the animals away." A gruff voice, a deep accent of the foreign language. "Do you think it is wise to be out here?"

"I don't believe so, but we cannot take any risks. Men from those villages are not so kind." Another male voice spoke. Humans. Nathen couldn't help but grin in delight. Not one but two humans for his meal tonight. But he had to tread lightly. They will have weapons. Nathen snuck up closer to the human camp. Once close when he could see two men standing around a fire.

"How much do you think we'll get with this one?" the deep accent one asked.

"Fresh and untouched are always the high price plus with youth and beauty." The other answered before going over to a spot in the camp out of his sight. "Am I right, darling?"

Nathen tried to see what he was doing but a new scent brought him more pleasure than anything. Something he has smelled from distance neighbouring territories. He reached up to a high branch with a good view of the camp. He suddenly became thrilled to the truth of his scent. Sitting at the edge of the camp, tied up against a tree was a young girl.

He was barely keeping himself from laughing with joy. His night was filled with luck. He has found a human girl to mate with. He watched her with great observation. Indeed, she was young and beautiful. Had to be around 16 or 17. Dark tan skin and long brown hair of the native people. He could watch her for hours thinking about how he will enjoy mating with her.

However, that daydream was disturbed with the other man that was kneeling to her. His hand had sneaked into her almost ruined shorts and down in between her legs, moving it around. The girl, squirms at his actions, desperately trying to shake him off with no avail. Her hands and feet were tied with rope while her mouth was covered to prevent her from speaking.

"Perhaps, we should have a little taste before we sell her on the market?" the man with the deep accent spoke with lust, "Surely they won't notice that we've had a little fun with her." The girl's eyes widen with fear and started shaking more roughly only for the man to smack her hard across the cheek, creating a loud sound like thunder.

Nathen couldn't help but hiss loudly in anger. That girl will be his. His hiss brought the attention of the two men.

"Did you hear that?" the man closest to the girl asked. Moving away from her and grabbing a gun from a nearby bag.

"What do you think it is? A snake?" the foreign man asked the other.

"Too loud. It's close but it sounds bigger." The other answered. "I'll see what it is?" He started heading into the direction of Nathen who was unphased by the approach. He knew it would happen. It was going to be too easy.

The man slowly left the camp and into the dense jungle. Nathen stalked from above silently. He waited until the man was at a good distance before decreasing down to his level. In a flash, he strikes. Covering the man's mouth and quickly looking straight into the man's eyes, activating his hypnosis. And with that, the man's eyes copied his, waiting to hear the command of his master.

"Kill the other man." Nathen command. The man turned and walked back to the camp. Quickly Nathen followed but remained hidden.

"So, did you find anything?" the foreign man asked but the other man did not reply, "Hey, what's up with your...What the fuck do you think you are doing?!" The man reacted to his partner aiming the gun at him and before he could react the gun fired, and the foreign man dropped to the floor.

Nathen smiles at the sight but it quickly dropped when he saw the girl, looking away in fear, curling up further, whimpering. Okay, fun time is over. His tail quickly wraps around the man's neck and snaps it making him drop dead as well. The forest was once again silence.

The girl didn't change her position. Did not dare to look. Time to collect what is his. Finally, he crawls down from the trees and slowly approaches the girl. He looms over her and even though she did not open her eyes, she could feel his presence.

"My dear." He spoke softly to her. "It's okay. Look." Her face became confused, not recognising the voice as he predicted her browns eyes open and look directly into his. He once again applies his hypnosis but gentler than the man, allowing her to relax into his control. Her brown eyes started to fill with the blue spirals and her body relaxes.

Nathen reaches out and removes the cloth that covered her mouth. He places his hand on her cheek that was smacked, gently keeping her head facing his.

"Relax. Rest now. You are safe. I am here." He said to her as her eyes started closing slowly. He scoops her up in his arms, letting her snug into his warmth as she finally closes her eyes and sleeps with a small smile on her face.
