~Isabelle's POV

I awoke the next day to the sun shining in my eyes and the birds happily chirping. Why would anyone want to get up at this stupid hour. I unwillingly got up out of bed and ready for the day, I got dressed and then proceeded to brushing all the tangles out of my hair, Ignoring the dark spots under my eyes when glancing in the mirror. When I was finished with my appearance I grudgingly made my way downstairs to the dining hall. I frowned when I saw Alistair's hunched form, his hair a mess from I assumed running his hands through it multiple times.

"What happened?" I demanded as I sat down next to him giving him my full attention. I quirked my eyebrow waiting for an answer, he sighed before giving in.

"Oh, the Alpha, something was wrong with him and he had to take an early night so my dad stepped in to be Alpha for the night and well he couldn't do both Beta and Alpha duties. So I had to be Beta for the night and help my dad with everything. The dance, all of the patrols, we stayed up all night." Alistair said, his eyes slightly droopy.

"Well you'll have to get used to it, if you're gonna to be Beta." I said as a matter of factly, and continued eating, happy I came a week before school starts so I didn't have to rush to class today.

"I guess, but I don't know how my cousin does it." He said, making me furrow, my eyebrows in confusion.

"Wait who's your cousin?" I ask.

"Oh the Alpha." He said, my eyes widening in surprise.

"The Alpha's your cousin!" I state shocked.

"Yeah, a lot of people are surprised." Alistair said shrugging as if he was weirded out by it.

"But what do you call him?"

"Well depends on the mood he's in. When he's mad, I call him Alpha, but when he's in a more stable mood I can call him Lucas. " He said, grabbing a muffin taking a bite out of it then setting it next to the big bowl of cereal on his tray. Lucas... his name brought shivers to my spine. What was wrong with me.

"So do you go to class?"

"Yeah this is my last year." He nodded before taking a big gulp of orange juice.

"Mine to." I say relieved that I will know at least someone in some classes. Just then the Beta stood up from his chair, the chair to his left empty as last night.

"Can I please have everyone's attention." He said making everyone look at him. The hall then got really quiet.

"I am sorry for the chaos last night, the Alpha is stressed and had to take an early night's sleep. The dance as he had mentioned before will still be on. It will start tonight at 7 sharp in the west gymnasium, everyone is to be there. Anyone who is not there will be punished for disrespecting the Alpha's order, Thank you." He said before sitting back down in his chair. Slowly the chatter in the room started again though this time there was a new feeling in the air. I suddenly didn't feel hungry anymore. The thought of dancing making me sick.

"Are you going to the dance?" I asked Alistair, trying to keep the shaky tone out of my voice.

"I can't I have to help my dad with security, the Alpha wants everyone there." He said sadly, probably wanting to be there.

"Oh." I said feeling guilty for asking. I chewed on my food, lost in my own thoughts. Slowly but surely people slowly started to dissipate. I stood up from the long wooden table, bidding goodbye to Alistair, before wandering the castle, discovering new rooms.

Later after lunch I got bored roaming the palace, so I then made my way outside. I clutched the book the I had grabbed from my room, as I walked up the small hill on a path from the palace. The path soon led way to a beautiful meadow on the top of a smaller cliff. I smiled softly at the nature surrounding me and sat down on the soft bed of grass.

I opened the book to where I had left off on just last night, everything around me disappearing as I started to read. Hours later my phone vibrated, telling me I had a text. I pulled out my iPhone smiling when I saw my mom text. I swiped the lock screen unlocking my phone. While I was waiting for my Mom to text back my eyes wandered up to the time, making me gasp. My eyes read over it again to make sure I wasn't seeing things. It was 7:45, I was dead. It was way past time for the dance.

I stumbled up from the grass, running down the path that led back to the castle. I slowed my running as I opened the door, the hallway's were the emptiest I had ever seen them, not a soul in sight. I looked both ways before continuing to my dorm. I almost sighed in relief when the last turn came into view, I rounded the corner only to run into a chest. Their eyes widened but they cleared their face before grabbing me by the shoulders, dragging me the way I had came. I sagged surrendering, knowing I would never make it away from them.

We passed many different hallways none like the ones before. Soon we came to what I supposed to be the Alpha's Office. They opened the door shoving me in roughly making me trip and fall, hitting my cheek on the corner of the coffee table. A hiss of pain left my lips as blood slowly trickled down my face from the new wound. The guards stepped forward to most likely help me from the ground, but something distracted us before they could reach my form on the floor. Then the Alpha came in.

~ Alpha Lucas's POV

I scanned the energetic crowds as they danced, searching for her, my one and only mate. I had began to wonder if it was just my imagination playing tricks on me. What if she wasn't here what if she never was and I was hallucinating. No, I pushed the depressing thought out of my mind. I couldn't think like that.

"Alpha, A student was found roaming around the dormitories. They have taken her to your office." My third in command linked to me. Excitement flooded me and I jumped up from my crouched position, running past multiple doors till finally reaching the last hallway before my office.

I breathed in deeply coming across the scent of three wolves. The first two were part of my security, the third a sweet familiar female scent. The scent was sweet, like a bouquet of fresh Roses. The smell brought out the wolf in me, the last few steps to my office were easy enough knowing behind the door was my mate.

I pushed the door open, it swinging on it's hinges and slamming against the wall with a loud bang. At this point thought I hardly cared about the door. There in front of me on the cold hard floor of my office lay my beautiful mate.

She was more beautiful than my mind could have conjured; soft silly waves of brown cascaded down her back, deep green eyes that were an empty abyss, she had curves every where she should making me want to pull her into me and claim those plump pink lips that begged to be satisfied.

But when looking upon her I also noticed the fresh cut that ran down her cheek the blood dripping onto the wooden floor boards. A ferocious growl erupted from deep within my chest as I took in the two guards that stood over her as she coward away from them, hissing in pain.

"Who touched her." I demanded, my voice deathly calm.
