"You'll have to do better than that." Silva admonished.  My mother had missed the center target yet again.
"Being a Duchess is making you soft."

Celeste nodded and tried again. Grandmother was feeding me soft bread while she watched her daughter train. She had kept Celeste on a strict schedule. Wake up at dawn, walk or jog a mile, eat, wash, tea, work on managing the household, train, lunch, play with children, work on in Dracos office, eat, bath, tuck in children, sleep.

Silva kept an eye on her every day making sure she did not deviate from her schedule. It was working, mother had gained some of her weight back and was looking healthier. Celeste didn't sing to me like she used to, but she did hum.

"Enough, come and eat."

My mother sat down at the table breathing heavily.

"We'll have to focus on building those muscles up." Silva said before she popped a grape in her mouth.

Celeste was silent and looked at her mother like she wanted to say something. I pulled on Silva's hair and babbled.

"Spit it out." Silva said as she gently pulled her hair from my grasp.

"How did you manage, after we lost Amara?"

Silva froze and I saw grief and pain flash across her face. She stared at Celeste for a bit before answering.

"I was angry at the world and killing bandits made me feel slightly better. I also threw myself into work, into raising the children I had left and making sure they could protect themselves. Your daughter, you named her after your sister correct, middle name I think?"

Celeste nodded.

"Then this is my reward for a job well done." She said lifting me up. She held me close and poked my cheek. "Mara will always be a part of us. But she's dead and we have to focus on those we love who are still here. I mourn, in private. It is my way."

"I wish we had mourned together." Celeste looked so small. Silva held her hand.

"We can now."

This is how I learned why my mother named me Aurora Amara. Light and Love.
