Chapter 3
"Kidnapping"

She was six years old. The picnic basket was filled with fruits, cookies, and snacks. The day as beautiful as ever with the stripes of the sun shining through their soles. It filled them, the light in the sun. The mom watched her daughter laugh and smile as brightly as ever before. A smile closer to angels, than actual human beings. A breeze of summer heat sacred the light blue sky. Birds chirped a happy melodic song in symphony. The little girl danced around barefoot in the green grass, playing with butterflies. She was a friend of every creature. It was like she could speak with them.

One thing was sure, that blond angel was made out of positive ions. No sadness, no regrets, no pain.

That blond girl was living in peace. Appreciating every day, savoring every moment, living beyond existence, loving with all her heart. Everybody desired her presence, enjoyed her company, cried when she left and loved her very deeply.

But that girl was not Caroline.

•••

Caroline's eyes opened slowly. Sunlight striker her face and blinded her. A foggy haze invaded her eyesight and she had to rub her eyes to get her vision back. First came the innocent confusion, not remembering anything for her first five seconds of being awake. And like a truck hit her she was back in reality. The kidnapping, the torture, and the pain. It was all too familiar and made sure to remind her when she tried to stand up on her feet. The thin blanket that was tucked around her body fell down at her side.
When she looked down, Caroline could see the big bruise on her leg or more specifically where it had been broken. It was healing nicely even though the pain. But the soreness and weakness she was experiencing were close to unbearable. Her body felt heavier than ever before and her legs weaker than ever before.

When Caroline looked up to see where she was, she found Klaus sitting in a white chair at the other end of the room. Of course, he was here. What else could she expect? Everything bad in her life always had something to do with him. A sketchbook in his hand and a pen in the other. He looked very concentrated.

But as soon as he noticed Caroline, he closed the sketchbook and his dimples became visible as a smile lighting up his face. Her gaze was trapped in his. He was just about to open his mouth to start a conversation when Caroline put a hand in the air to stop him.

"If you talk to me before eight in the morning, I am not going to respond very nicely"

She murmured and warned, being deadly serious. Klaus closed his mouth again but kept the smile. That damn mischievous smile of his. Stubbornly Caroline made an attempt to stand up. Her legs were shaky. Her clothes were filled with dried up blood and even the smell made her whole body ache. She was hungry.

"You need to take it, slow love. Or else you will...."

As the mind reader, he is, Caroline's shaky legs collapsed leaving her to fall down as he spoke. With his impressive vampire speed, Klaus got to her before she hit the floor. With his strong and firm arms, he took a grip by the hollow of her knee and woven her easily up in his arms. Unable to protest by the unwanted contact, Caroline let her weakness in and rested her heavy head against his shoulder.

"Can I get a blood bag?"

She whispered only so he could hear her pathetic whimper. She felt so fragile. Caroline absolutely hated it. Klaus looked as if he had a suggestion to make. But when he didn't say anything for a while, Caroline spoke again.

"Please"

She never said please to him. Caroline was a loving girl with a big heart and good manners, but she never begged the big bad Nicklaus Mikealson for anything.
