Chapter 4
"The gameplan"

Caroline took a seat at the settled table. Servants were walking away, leaving the Mikealson's privacy. Normally she would feel kind of scared being alone in a room full of ancient vampires but Klaus brought her here for safety and it would be rather stupid to go through all this trouble just to end up killing her. The dining hall was big and dark, the table gigantic and the chandelier gorgeous.

"So Caroline, I've been informed there was a man involved with the kidnapping?"

Elijah ended the silence and faced the problem directly.

"Yes, but the woman is dead"

Klaus announced before Caroline could open her mouth.

"Whatever plan they had to kidnap me and lure out Klaus it was the man's doing. I heard how he ordered her around. And I can speak for myself"

She said and that last part made Rebekah unexpectedly laugh. Caroline and the others looked her way.

"Oh once I could speak that way with him too without being afraid that my head would be separated from my body"

She smiled. Caroline chuckled and Klaus pretended not to hear his sister and continued. Contained anger showing in his voice.

"I think you will have to be a little more specific, I am a man of many enemies"

Elijah took a sip from the glass looking like wine.

"I didn't see his face, I just heard his voice and I'm not even sure I would recognize it"

She was so tired and all she wanted was to go home. Her phone was gone and she had to tell her friends she was alright.

"The most reasonable thing to do is to let me go home"

Caroline said.

"And why is that the most reasonable thing?"

Klaus immediately question. Of course, what else could she expect?

"There is no direct threat against me, there is no reason not to return home"

She said and eyed him intensely.

"That's a default setting Niklaus"

Even though it was not directly announced, Elijah's words meant he took Caroline's side in this. Having his brother against him in this made Klaus angrier than he already was.

"Shall we just leave her with a note then, huh? Don't kidnap me? That will definitely keep the bad guy away"

Klaus sarcastically said.

"Don't forget to sign it!"

Rebekah added earning a growl from Klaus and her devilish smile faded.

"I say we should call my friends and figure something out together, the more the merrier"

Caroline said. She didn't care how but she felt so isolated being here without them and she had to find a way to get them here. Or else she was afraid that she would actually be fooled by Klaus's charm.

"I can't believe I'm saying this..."

Rebekah muttered to herself.

"...but I do actually agree with Caroline"

She saw that Nicklaus and Elijah were about to argue.

"Before you start, having a Bennett witch on our side can make quite a difference and besides, there was a long time ago since I last saw Stefan"
