Neku's Pov

A figure stood before me. He walked closer and closer to us, slep by step. The closer he was, the better view of the person I had gotten. He was definitely 'that' person.

"Joshua?!" I exclaimed turning around. "Aww you look suprised to see me~" Joshua said walking towards us. "What...." I kept staring at Joshua. "What is the meaning of this?" I asked gritting my teeth. "You don't have to be so suprised now. I'm sure you have a lot of questions so I'll let you ask some. But I'll be the one who decides what I want to answer, of course," Joshua said looking towards (Y/n).

"Say (Y/n), what happens if I tell you that you're entry fee wasn't your memories?" Joshua said smirking at her. "What do you mean?! Then why don't I have my memories?" (Y/n) yelled demanding an answer. Joshua opened his mouth for a second but smirked soon afterwards. "I'm afraid I can't say anymore then that." "You....!" (Y/n) clutched her fist.

"Do you have any questions, Neku?" Joshua asked.

Of course I do. Too many at the moment. Joshua? Joshua's the game master? What...?

"What's with the sour face? You should speak up when you have something to say, deary."

You could tell Joshua was having too much fun with this. A little too much, should I say....

"Tell me why you're the game master. This makes no sense. I thought you were the composer," I said. "Hehe, I am the game master," Joshua said. "Then... how can you be theー" "Breaking a rule or two wouldn't hurt, now would it?" Joshua said. "What?!" I shouted. "I'm kidding, darling. This one was an execption," Joshua said looking over at my face. Most likely to catch a glimpse of my reaction. "Then explain yourself," I said. "Sorry~ I can't say anymore than this," I said.

You're always like this. Even when I was with you. Keeping everything to yourself, decieving me, never telling me anything. You haven't changed... at all.

"....I have a question," (Y/n) said. "Oh? Go ahead," Joshua said. "Who exactly am I?" she asked. There was silence for a bit. "Now, that question isn't something you should be asking me. There's someone very close to you who knows you better than anyone," Joshua said walking around in circles. "Who exactly is that?" (Y/n) asked. "Oh do you really need to ask?" Joshua said.

Joshua was answering our questions but leaving important information out.

"Hmm I don't have much time left~ I'll answer one more question for you," Joshua offered. "Any question? Are you going to avoid it like you've been doing the entire time," I asked. "Depends," Joshua replied.

I felt (Y/n) tap my shoulder. "Is it okay if I ask something?" (Y/n) asked. "What is it?" I asked. She whispered into my ear. I nodded.

"Umm Game master, I'd like to know what the point of this game is. Why are we the only players. Why are you the game master? Or are you lying to us about being the game master?" I asked.

Joshua seemed amused. "I said only one question but since I'm a nice person, I'll answer the ones I feel like. Also, you don't need to be so formal, deary. You know my name, don't you~" Joshua stood at a spot looking at us. "The two of you are in the Reaper's Game. I'm sure you know that already. Though this certain Reaper's game is special. It was created for the sake of the two of you," Joshua explained. "Just of the two of us....?" (Y/n) asked crossing her arms. "That's right. Aren't you two special~" Joshua said. I glared at Joshua. Joshua continued on. "Am I the game master? Who can say? Did someone refer to me as the game master? What made you assume I was the game master, I wonder?" Joshua asked curiously looking at us. "Two harrier reapers refered to you as the game master," (Y/n) said. "Hmm~ I see. Well you'll find out my role later most likely. Now, one more thing...," Joshua paused checking around himself to see our faces. "Oh those were the only questions though," I said. Joshua smiled. "Oh, I believe I should tell you one thing... but, I'll actually leave that for another day. Toodles," Joshua disappeared from our sight.

"Neku?" (Y/n) called my name. "What's wrong?" I asked. "....I don't get it. Why are we the only people in this game. Special, only for us? What is the meaning of this?"

(Y/n) was really confused. You couldn't blame her though... Afterall, Joshua came suddenly throwing us information that didn't give us the full picture.

"Don't... don't worry about it," I said trying to reassure (Y/n) that we were safe. "Say.. I'm really curious about that time Joshua and you talked alone," she said. "....Alright, I'll tell you what he said that time," I began.

Flashback

"Welcome, Neku. You'll be out here as soon as I give a few words out."

Joshua sat in a seat in the midst of the conversation.

"Neku, you've beat the reaper's game before," Joshua said.

What...?!

"What do you mean I beat the Reaper's Game before? I'm right here aren't I?" I yelled. "Indeed, you are," Joshua said. "Then wh-" "Patience, Neku. It's up to you to believe. But what I say is the truth. You know after you beat the game, you hung around with your friends a lot," Joshua said. "What do you mean?! I don't remember any of this," I shouted out of confusion. "The key to everything is that girl," Joshua said. "What girl?" I asked. "Why who else. You're precious partner that is," Joshua smiled.

End of Flashback

"Was he refering to me...?" (Y/n) asked. "I'm pretty sure he was," Neku said. "But why?! I've only met you recently. I'm the key to everything? What does that even mean....?" I asked. Neku shook his head. "I didn't really believe his words at the time... but it didn't feel like he was lying at all," I said staring at the ground. "There's no way that I've finished the game before...!" I said stomping onto the floor. "I'm sure we'll find out later on, it's almost the end of the day. We'll probably be put to sleep soon. Let's calm down for now," (Y/n) said patting my back.

"....Yeah, but I can't help but wonder what the hell is going on," I said staring into the skies.
