Chapter 6: Tears of Truth

I leaped over the metal railing that separated the highway from the forest and ran to Lola, embracing her in a tender hug as her arms wrapped themselves around my waist. She buried her face into my shoulder as we hugged, letting go moments later.

"Are you okay?" She asked me, "you look sad."

"That obvious, huh?" I huffed.

"Where's Shane and Rick.... And Carl... Where's Lori?" She stuttered, eyes fluttering around the group in case she had missed anybody.

"They're at a farm down the road." I replied.

"Why?"

I cleared my throat before signalling for the attention of Dale and T-Dog.

"Carl's been shot." I announced.

Dale's eyes grew wide as he stared at me, "shot?! What do you mean he's been shot?!"

"None of us know... We weren't there." I said, "Shane, Rick and Carl went off on their own little search party and now they're fucked."

"All any of us know is that his chick rode out of nowhere like Zorro on a horse and took Lori with her." Stated Glenn.

"And you let her?" Asked Dale.

Daryl scoffed before replying, "climbed down out of my asshole, man."

"In any case, Rick sent her. She knew Lori's name and Carl's, plus she looked fine." I said, supporting our case, "so that's where got to go: the farm."

Carol stared at me in disbelief, attempting to hold back what I thought to be tears, "I'm not leaving. Not yet. Sophia... If she comes back and we're gone..."

"Don't panic, we'll figure something out." I reassured the tense woman, giving her a tender pat on the back for comfort, "tomorrow we'll pull up stakes, put out a big sign and leave her some supplies."

"I'll stay here with her in the RV," offered Daryl.

"If the RV is staying then so am I." Piped up Dale.

"I'm not going anywhere with my ankle. So I'll stay back." Chimed in Lola.

"And I'll be there to keep you company." Smiled Andrea.

"That's a whole lot of you staying back...." I sighed, "but it's not a problem. You do what you gotta do."

"Thank you so much." Sniffed Carol, a smile falling onto her face for the first time in a long while.

"This means that I'll head to the farm with Glenn and T-Dog, reconnect with everyone."

"you gotta get T-Dog some antibiotics." Warned Dale, "that poor guy has a very serious blood infection and he'll die without proper attention."

Daryl eyed Dale before jogging over to his motorcycle and lifting up the seat, pulling a stash of what appeared to be an assortment of drugs.

"Why did you wait til now to say something?" Asked Daryl, "it's my brothers stash... There's Crystal, X... Some kickass painkillers." He chuckled, tossing the small bottle of painkillers to Glenn, "and some first class doxycycline... For when Merle got the clap on occasion."

I laughed at his statement.

"Looks like your brothers unfortunate sex life was the best thing to ever happen to T-Dog," I chuckled, "Alright, let's get going then."

Glenn helped me ready Carol's Cherokee to drive down to the farm in, the two us packing some necessary supplies and managing to get T-Dog into the car. The two of us had to do this quickly as there was barely any daylight left and it would take us a while to get to the farm.
