As expected, he was unable to recognize either one of them. On the right stood a short pretty girl with equally short honey blonde hair falling just above her shoulders. Accompanying her tiny physique was a playfully dimpled smile which suggested a hint of a slight mischievous nature. Towering over her on the left was an overbearingly large fellow, standing about a head and a half taller than himself. Athletically bulked to an extreme extent showed that the boy before him was clearly no stranger to the gym.
"About time!" the large boy complained, jokingly staring down at his bare wrist, "I swear, I've been ringing this doorbell for hours."
"Don't be rude," the girl said, lightly chastising him as she noted her friend's still wet hair, "Looks like we caught him off guard!"
"Sorry, I just got out of the shower," he replied, bending the truth a bit.
"We did say that we'd drop by at 10:30 am you know!" animating his movements as he continued, "I mean, I get that we're on vacation but still, that's no excuse for to be this lazy, especially on a Monday!"
"My alarm clock died on me last night, so I might have woken up a bit later than I wanted," the boy replied coolly.
"Always an excuse with this guy," he responded equally as fast, turning to face the petite girl, "can you believe this guy?"
"I can believe that you're acting like a douche," she replied, punching his arm as she retrieved a phone from a small knapsack, "Besides, its 10:13 am so I'd say we're a bit early wouldn't you say?"
Mouth agape after receiving the successive blows, he soon cleared his throat before resuming, "never mind that now," he said, turning to the boy as he spoke, "Well, are you gonna let us in?"
Backing out of the doorway, he wordlessly waved them inside, leading the duo to the kitchen after locking the front door behind him. Sitting quietly as the two seemingly began to relay a story to him, his thoughts swiftly drifted to the previous happenings.
'What exactly did the note mean by dangers?' he wondered, 'Could it be referring to the shadowy being from earlier or was there some new, unknown threat targeting him from the shadows?'
"Earth to Josh," Johnny broke in, waving a hand to and fro in front of his face, "you're spacing out on us!"
'So it is my name,' he thought inwardly, somewhat relieved by the confirmation.
"Yeah, what's up?" he questioned.
"Like I was saying," Johnny continued, bringing out a newer modeled phone than Laura's, "My old phone conked out on me so I just got a new one, number and all, which I was just about to give you both!"
"Alright," Josh replied casually, marking it down on his palm.
Making his way to the fridge as he called out the digits, he slowly removed a mountainous stack of waffles from the fridge, which presumably was meant to be Josh's breakfast, "You mind if I chow down on this?"
"Help yourself," Josh replied, no longer in the mood to eat.
"Awesome," Johnny replied, already stuffing his face, earning a giggle from Laura as he wolfed it down.
"I've a big game coming up you this Sunday you see, so I have to keep my bulk going," he continued in between breaths, "You guys are invited obviously!"
"Oh joy," Laura replied sarcastically, rolling her eyes as she spoke, "Nothing better than spending my Sunday watching baseball from the bleachers!"
Laughing at her amusing comments, Josh quickly stopped as his actions earned a displeased stare from the larger boy. Before Johnny could retort, a blaring tune suddenly erupted from his pants pocket, interrupting his feast.
