This is a story that is long forgotten.

But is kept within the depths of the Library.

It's a story about an impossible love.

It's a bittersweet love that everyone wished they will never experience it.

Unfortunately, this couple did.

And this... is their story.

~~~~~
There was a demon who aspires to be a King.
There was a woman who aspires to be a Warrior.
Their first meeting was not pleasant.
The woman punched the demon, not knowing he is one.
After all, there was no way of knowing one's true colours immediately.
The demon was angry but intrigued.
Who wouldn't if they were suddenly accused of something they didn't do?
And who wouldn't when such a feeble female had such courage to raise their hand against a demon?
~
So the demon strike a deal with her.
~
"What is your greatest wish?" He asked.
"To be the first great female warrior."
He was about to grant her wish when she suddenly stopped him.
"But I would like to accomplish that myself."
"But what can I do for you for the wrong I have done you?"
"Nothing, it's been done. I forgive you. And I'm sorry for punching you."
~
The woman's words were a surprise to him.
No human,
Much less a woman,
Has ever refused making a deal with the demon.
Or even apologise for their actions.
So the demon wanted to follow her.
She obliged.
~
An unlikely friendship between a human and a demon was formed.
As they face adversities together,
They also grew closer together.
An unexpected love blossomed.
Yet,
Their love was not to last.
~
The people knew of the affair of the woman with an unknown man.
They tried to bind her down with their rules.
Humiliate her.
Frame her.
Throw her to the depths of the darkness.
The demon wanted to shelter her from all the attacks from her fellow humans,
But he had his own battles too.
A battle for power within his brethren.
The demon king was dying and now was the opportunity to seize the throne.
He also knew that she had her trials to endure.
And so this young couple parted their ways to accomplish their goals.
~
It took many years before both of them achieved their dreams.
A bloodthirsty female warrior.
A merciless demon king.
Both at different sides of the same coin,
Separated by everything.
~
When they meet again,
It was under different circumstances.
They fought a war that both didn't want a part of
But it was forced by their people.
~
When their swords clashed,
Both knew...
One of them will die.
With tears mingled with sweat and blood,
They begin their dance of death.
Oh,
How bewitching and lethal the dance is!
~
At last,
A sword fell.
One collapsed into the other's waiting arms.
With a hand stroking his cheek,
Her eyes to his eyes,
A lone tear fell.
She breathed her last words,
"I love you."
~
The world turned black.
A scream of anguish tore through the battlefield.
When he came to,
All was gone.
Friend or foe,
Neither had survived.
~
A black cloaked figure appeared.
Under the blood moon
And in the midst of a worn-out battlefield,
His sinister smile promised of revenge against the everything
As he extended out a hand to the distraught demon.
Without a thought,
The demon who
Lost everything,
Accepted his hand.
~
For now...
All he wants
Is a world bathed in scarlet red
For her.
I'm back from my break! I haven't planned out my next posting schedule so I might need to do that soon. Not sure if I can handle a weekly posting for Arc 3 since I haven't started my drafts on Arc 4...
So I cleaned this short story up a little and kept a few parts of the story judging from the reactions of my friends' suggestions. I intended to make the black cloaked figure as ambiguous as possible instead of making his identity clearer in this story. That was because I wanted to focus more on the main characters of this short love story who are the demon and the warrior. I really like how I made this story as myth-like as possible so that it gives this appropriate space for readers to think about how the story moves in their mind while keeping the main points intact. Of course, it wasn't easy to downsize it when I am used to writing so much.
Hope you like this little story. (^_^)
I did a little changes. While it's not perfect, I think it's a lot easier to read because before it was a whole chunk.
Also extended a little on the hooded figure because a friend mistook that last portion as an affair between a man and a man. Lmao.
Hmm... I wonder whose story does this belong to?
Anyway, I decided to write this short story because I was tinkering with the idea of a warrior and a demon. This story is really quite sad but it explains the eccentric behaviour of that character if you know who I mean.
Please drop by a comment to tell me how you think about this sad love story!
