RE: If you could choose 5 people to have dinner with, who would it be and why?

4revgreen: I thought I'd make a quick response to CptDavid's post whilst I wait for the rest of the village to wake up (Sunday service starts at 10am)

So I assume they can be fictional as well as real? I can't think of five real people who I'd want to have a meal with, which I think is rather telling of my stance on the human race. It actually took me quite along time to come up with this list because I don't particularly want to have dinner with anyone, but if it were these people then I'm sure it wouldn't be too bad. Just a warning, but the reasoning behind each choice is pretty much the same; they all seem very intelligent and interesting.

I mentioned him before, but my first choice would be Doctor Hannibal Lecter, the Mads Mikkelson iteration, from the TV show. My reasoning behind this? Well, first of all, he seems very polite, and intelligent and he dislikes rude people. He could also cook the meal-provided it's not human, which I guess is a lot to ask. I would love to ask him about how his mind works, how he sees the world. In all honesty, I don't think he would be able to manipulate me like he did Will Graham, or trick me like he did the rest of the FBI. Maybe because I've read all the books and watched all the films and the TV show, so I can spot when he's manipulating people. Or maybe because I'm an expert at manipulating people too.

My next choice would be the singer Marilyn Manson, again because he seems very intelligent and well spoken. I would also like to understand how he sees the world. I've always liked his music, it's different; he's not afraid to be different and I can respect that. In every interview I've seen of him, he gets himself across very well, and I don't really know what else to say about him.

Sherlock Holmes would be my next choice, it doesn't matter which "version" of him, just him as a concept. He sees the world in the way I strive to,as he can just see the truth, and look right through people, if you understand what I'm trying to say. Yes, he's very intelligent too,but I'd love to see him try to "Deduce" things about me, because I reckon I hide myself very well, and don't give anything obvious away. It would also be great to see what Lecter makes of him and vice versa.

I don't know if many of you will know this next one, but his name is Mark Z. Danielewski. He's an author who wrote one of my favourite books, "House of leaves" I won't attempt to describe what it's about as I don't think my words could do it justice, but it's a very unique and interesting way to tell a story. I reckon he has a brilliant mind and I would love to see how he views the world.

My last choice would be Scar, the girl who believes in demons who I made my previous post about. Whether you believe her or not about the demons, she's a great story teller, and I really do think she believes what she told me. Again, it would be pretty interesting to see what Sherlock and Lecter make of her. And I'd love to hear more about her "demons" and as it seems so would a lot of you. (I don't reply to comments but I do read them. If you would like to talk to me, just Private Message me or email me)

Sorry this wasn't a particularly interesting post, and that it wasn't that much in depth. I invite you to tell me who you would chose in the comments, or make your own post. I must go get read for the Sunday service now, and mentally prepare myself to talk about something that's not real for an hour or so in front of some very stupid people.

Yours "Sincerely" Vincent.

Urgone: You think you can outsmart Sherlock Holmes, a fictional character? That's hilarious

4156b: House of Leaves is a very challenging read, but worth it. I'd also love to have a chat with Mark.

Blueeyedmr: I'd choose Will Graham and Clarice Starling over Hannibal Lecter any day.Much more in common with them. Wouldn't particularly like to have dinner with a psychopathic murderer.

4revgreen commented on a post: Would you kill 1 to save 5?

Of course: Every human life is essentially worth the same, if you think about it that way. And so five human lives is going to add up to more that just one life. It's simple logic, nothing to do with emotions like other people might try to make out. Plus, when is this going to be a real situation anyway?
