The next morning came early, with Link waking up earlier than even Aiko normally did. While Aiko and I were rubbing the sleep our of our eyes, Link explained to us that he had to return to Castle Town and buy a metal shield.
“Why waste your money? We know where one is.” Aiko said, still half asleep and not thinking.
I jabbed my elbow into her knee.
“Really? Where?” Link asked excited that he didn’t have to dish out more money than necessary.
“The graveyard.” I answered for her, “But, we’ll have to get it at night.”
“Why?” He questioned, not understanding.
“It’ll be easier, OH, while we’re at it...” I said trailing off looking at Aiko.
I saw the fear in her face as plain as day. There was another song in the graveyard that would most certainly come in handy, but.... Re-deads were in the grave it was in.
“There’s another grave we have to check, but we can’t really go in with you.” Aiko said to Link.
“Why, what’s in there?”
“It’s a song for your Ocarina, but it’s too dangerous for inexperienced fighters to go in. You’ll be just fine though.” I said trying to cover for Aiko.
“So at nightfall we go and check several graves so we can continue, and tomorrow we head up Death Mountain.”Link said with a tone of accomplishment.
“So what do we do until then?” I asked as Aiko stood and stretched.
“Well, we could all spend the day becoming friends? Besides, maybe some villagers need help.” He said, also getting up.
“Who knows, they might even give us stuff for helping.” Aiko said with a devious look in her eyes. She was talking about the cuccoos, and I knew that could only be trouble with her. Fun, but trouble.
We left Impa’s house early that morning, immediately heading to Anju, well, I called her Anju, because that’s who she was in Majora’s Mask.
Aiko had talked to her, basically ‘picking up’ the cuccoo ‘quest’. Yeah, we played too many RPG’s, but it just helped us out in this situation. The three of us split up around the village looking for the cuccoos. There was a total of eight of them scattered. I took the ones by the main gate. Aiko jumped at the chance to pull off her favorite game stunt; flying with a cuccoo and landing on the wooden fence behind the potion shop. Link had taken the area by Death Mountain and where the construction workers were. I had two cuccoos in hand when I heard it.
“HELL YEAH THAT WAS AWESOME.”
It was Aiko. I mentally face-palmed. As I was putting my cuccoos in the pen, Aiko came running up, two in hand, one on her head.
“Why is there a...”
“Cuccoo on my head?” She said finishing my question, “He’s the one I flew with. I named him Hidalgo. I want to keep him.”
At that moment Link walked up.
“Why is there-”
“You don’t wanna know.” I said interrupting him, helping him put his cuccoos in their pen.
There was a total of seven.
“We’re missing one.” I said, “Link, where did you find yours?”
“Up by Death Mountain Gate, and by that creepy old house.”
“Okay, we know where to go.” Aiko said leading all of us to the crated cuccoo.
