After about a half hour of walking, we came upon a dirt road. We both decided to go to the right, figuring it would be the better direction judging by footprints on the road. Near the end of the day, we came across tall stone walls. It was then that we both knew. The drawbridge had been the bane of my existence when I had first been a child. We were in Hyrule, and the sun was starting to set.

Aiko looked at me and nodded, fear and excitement in her eyes. I smiled in return, and both of us took off at a run to Castle Town before the drawbridge shut for the night and we were locked out with the Stalchildren.

“Jeanette, how did we get here?” Aiko asked as we walked around castle town, the sun fading out of sight, signaling nightfall.

“I don’t know Aiko, but, you did say you wanted something like this right?”

“Not entirely like this, as cool as it is, I’m kinda scared Jeanette.”

“Aiko, to be honest, I’m scared too, but I also wanted an adventure in life, and it looks like we have it.” I said smiling at my best-friend.

She smiled back, “So here’s the trick question, how do we get back? And where are we staying for the night?”

“Let’s go stay in the Temple of Time for the night. Then we should probably find either Link or Zelda.”

“When’s the last time you saved the game?”

“Uhmmm...” I mentally smacked myself, I was terrible at remembering to save my progress periodically, the last time I saved had been... “Right after the Great Deku Tree.”

Aiko just nodded. I knew her, she was trying to figure out the mechanics of the world we were stuck in.

“If it works how I think it should, Link will either be on his way to see Zelda, or he’ll be where we left off before....”

“Hopefully.” I said, before Aiko had to remember too much of the re-dead event, “Look, there’s the Temple of Time.”

We walked up the steps of the imposing temple slowly, not sure if it would be okay for us to spend the night or not. Both of us thoroughly looked around after entering, not a soul was around. Aiko looked at me, and I just shrugged, picking out a good spot to lay down on the floor. The marble floor was surprisingly warm, and I was grateful for it.

The next morning came fast for Aiko and I, neither of us realized just how tired we had been.

“Come on Jeanette, let’s go. We need to hurry and get to Zelda, even if Link isn’t there she can probably still help us.”

I just nodded, getting to my feet and rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. Aiko grabbed my free hand and drug me through Castle Town market and up the road to the castle. She stopped at the ever so familiar vine covered wall. Aiko started climbing with ease, I just sat at the bottom, looking up at how tall the wall was.

“Jeanette, come on!”

“Aiko, the wall didn’t look that tall in the game.”

I was afraid of heights, really, really, really, afraid of heights. I took a deep breath, and grabbed onto the vines. Aiko spoke encouraging words to me the entire time, and without too much trouble, I was at the top of the wall.

“See, wasn’t so hard now was it?”

“Just shut up so we can keep going.” I grumbled at her, though I was grateful for her support.

We spent the better part of the afternoon sneaking around guards, and swimming through the moat. I was not pleased with the moat, but Aiko was even less pleased. White clothes and water don’t mix.
