We went in Ian's really cool mustang and landed at this cosy cafe just few streets away from the school.

It was a quiet Friday afternoon and there were barely any customers around.

The young waitress serving us was eyeing Ian the whole time, before proceeding with our orders. But he was oblivious to it, or maybe he just chose to ignore it.

"So, where do we start?" he was treading carefully.

"I'm not sure, why don't we start with your grandfather?" I prompted.

"Well," he began, "We were were one of the founding families back then in Vale Springs, and in 1712 a bad famine along with a virus was threatening to claim most of the living things around. There was a man who came to town, and professed to my granddad he could save our family."

"He was of course, a vampire. He saw the opportunity to create more of his own kind, when he knew of the situation around this area."

"We were changed the very same night, and even some of my family members who were suffering from deadly infections recovered."

"I was only seventeen then, a few days short of my eighteen birthday. I was dying, and my parents made the decision for me," he finished softly.

I felt a momentary pang of sadness for him, to have others deciding his life, and an eternal one like that. I wondered how he felt then and now.

"Do you, well, feed on blood like what the books said?" I shivered involuntarily, hoping his answer was no.

"We need blood to survive, but most of us here in town only feed on blood bags. Which is why granddad is the head of the hospital here. Gives us easy access to our needs," he chuckled bitterly.

"Contrary to beliefs, deep down we are still humane, we still have feelings though our hearts are no longer beating. We have families, our loved ones and friends."

"Don't the humans here suspect anything? That you guys don't grow old?" I questioned.

"Well we moved every now and then, and frankly speaking, most of the people here knew the situation," he looked at me, probably guessing what my next question was.

"Meaning this is a vampire town?!" I couldn't conceal my shock, this was horrifying.

"No, the whole town has, erm, some others who are not vampires. Look Tas, I'm afraid this is all I can tell you right now," he was assessing how I was taking all these in.

Others around?

Meaning like what, werewolves?!

Omg.

This was getting a bit screwed up for me.

I wondered if my parents knew what they were getting into when they shifted here, and now I wondered if their business partner was human or not.

"Do I need to be afraid? I mean, since there are so many of your kind around and god knows what else..." I guessed I didn't know how to handle the truth. It was too mega for me to bear.

"Hey Tas, listen to me," he was lightly gripping both my hands across the table.

"No one is going to hurt you, in this town we have the human world law and order, they will make sure of that. And I promised to keep you safe."

I barely heard his next words.

I knew what I had to do next.
