Mizuka laid with her husband in their bed, taking in the quiet afternoon. It had been weeks of work with barely any reprieve and both were exhausted. There was constant work at the hospital and Kakashi was busy tracking down the Akatsuki members, which meant he was constantly on missions. And now they finally had a few days off together. Even though she told Kakashi that she would rest for the next few days, Mizuka secretly had an ulterior motive. She was working on a new jutsu that she called Rhapsody in Blue, which was a miniature version of her Rhapsody of Life jutsu. With it, she could diagnose any issues within its recipient as they lay in her cocoon of chakra. While, on the surface, it seemed like an extremely selfless jutsu, she was certainly being rewarded in her own way. Kakashi was gone on missions very often, so even though she still saw him and secretly check on his well being. He had a lot of routine injuries that shinobi acquire on the battlefield, but, she knew that these would accumulate to the point that the damage would be irreversible. There were shinobi who had made it to retirement only to lose their ability to walk or lose the use of an arm due to the accumulation of old injuries.

Other healers have told her that not enough shinobi make it to retirement age to justify such preventative measures, but those numbers were changing. Besides, why wouldn't she want the love of her life to be in good health? He was overused as it was by Tsunade, but that was to be expected when you're a man who is feared by nations. She looked over his huddled body; he looked so vulnerable this afternoon. His body was covered with fresh cuts and bruises from his latest mission, and she sensed that his left shoulder was strained, even though he didn't mention it. She slowly fed her chakra through his body, letting it pulsate through his being. It was healing every ligament and muscle, sore from overuse.

"Wow, Kakashi, this is very impressive."

He was laying shirtless on an exam table at the hospital, Tsunade's hands on his stomach, doing a full work up.

"Your cumulative chakra system injuries are almost completely healed.  But, how?  Has Mizuka been doing something, or giving you something?"

On top of the usual battlefield injuries , Kakashi's Sharingan eye, while highly effective, had ultimately damaged his chakra system over years of us, something that Tsunade had been closely watching for the past few years.

"She's been using a new jutsu she just cultivated; she calls it Rhapsody in Blue.  It's some kind of smaller version of her Rhapsody of Life jutsu.  She mentioned healing cumulative injuries slowly over time with it.  I guess it's working."

"that's very interesting... I'll have to ask her about it.  Okay, you're all done."

She touched his shoulder gently as he sat up, pulling his undershirt and shirt back on and pulling his mask up.

Kakashi didn't know that he could have it so good. With Mizuka home, he not only felt better emotionally and mentally, but physically as well. She was a firm but loving taskmaster to him, making sure he took care of himself. She made sure he ate breakfast every morning, having everything ready for him when he awoke, including vitamins and elderberry syrup that she had made. And she always had lunch for him in the fridge. And, in the evenings, he would come home to dinner and a warm soak after a day of training. And it was always followed by intense, sheet gripping sex. He had never been taken care of before, and it was nice. It felt as if he was maximizing his chakra. His stamina was growing stronger as well.   And now this new jutsu was doing wonders for his tired body.

Mizuka's new jutsu proved to be helpful in days that followed their small break from reality.  Kakashi was constantly out in the field, searching for the Akatsuki, and he was doing it mostly alone.  It was miserable work, but the thought of coming home to Mizuka and being wrapped in a literal cocoon of her love made him carry on.  The sooner he gathered useful intel, the sooner he could go home to her.  He only hoped that they would track down the Akatsuki soon.
