Daniel's PoV:
"BRANDY WHAT DID I SAY!? I SAID KEEP THE HUMANS BLOOD OUT OF THE VAN! IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK? I SWEAR TO GOD HALF OF YOU PEOPLE ARE DEAF AND STUPID!" I know yelling is pointless, no one is listening, they never do. I glance at Anna, she hasn't said a word since the incident in the woods. I walk up to the passenger side and open the door, she flinches and slowly meets my gaze. "What the hell was that Anna?" My voice drips poison and shoots daggers. She flinches again before responding; "I...I...I was trying to prove myself a worthy Luna to our pack...and you." Her voice gets quieter as she speaks, a selfish action as per usual. "Do you only ever think about yourself, Anna? Because clearly, you do...this could jeopardize our contract with the council if we can't show them that we can get the subjects to the lab safely! This could be the end for us, do you not understand that?" She nods silently. "Good..now get out of my face." She scampers out of the van and into the house. I shut the door and the van and make my way into the infirmary.
I open the door, making both Tray and Brandy startle. "And what the hell are you two doing standing around?" They both look at me like deer caught in the headlights of a car. "Well?" I look at them both. "We just brought the girl down here to see if the stitching could be changed." Tray finally speaks up, "Ah, so you two can hear, and why would you bring her here? can't you treat her somewhere else?"I spit back at him making Brandy flinch, but Tray is unphased. "We had to bring her here because we wouldn't have another sterile place to do it, Daniel." He pulls Brandy close to him protectively. "I don't care, get the lab rat out of my infirmary before she bleeds all over the place, you already let it get on the van, don't get it all over in here. She better be in the lab by the time I get back or things won't be good for either of you." At that, I turn away and leave to go clean my van that Brandy probably ruined.
Brandy's PoV:
I startle when Daniel slams the door as he leaves, a hand going across my belly protectively. I look at Tray, his face is red with anger, his jaw is clenched and eyes his wolfs color. "Baby...calm down, please don't let him get to you, Tray." I speak softly still looking up at him. "He threatened you two. He threatened you and the baby." he doesn't unclench his jaw as he speaks, making his words sound straggled and held back almost. "He threatened you too Tray." "I don't care about me Brandy, he threatened you and the baby, he's gonna regret it." He goes to walk towards the door but I held him back. "It isn't worth it Tray if you go out there and start something he will kill you, then you won't be here for the baby, me, or this little girl. Please, Tray, don't go...I can't do this without you." I whine looking up at him. Slowly his facial expression softens and he looks down to me, "I'm sorry Bran...i'm so so so sorry." I smile and shake my head and gently kiss his cheek. "You're okay T...he overstepped a boundary." He shakes his head, smiling a little. "More than one..."
I look back at the little girl and sigh. "She has to survive this... she has to fight." He follows my gaze to the little girl, who lays limp on the bed, Blood staining her side and the strips of the sheet that we used as makeshift stitches, are a bright crimson. "As much as this pains me...she doesn't deserve this...any of this...none of this..." He shakes his head, trying to hide the fact that his voice breaks in the middle of the sentence. "Come on... let's get her to the lab before asshat comes back in and tries something" I nod and reluctantly step away from him as he walks over to the bed and gently lifts the little girl into his arms. He slowly walks to the lab, all the pack members gawking and staring as we pass, most whisper or gasp, they don't understand, they never will.
I jog ahead and turn on the lab lights and open the door, just the sight of this place makes me physically sick. The smell of disinfectant, the bright white walls, and the lights. The trays and shelves of scary looking equipment and viles of god knows what.
"where are we putting her?" I look around and sigh seeing the cage box like thing labeled "subject a". "There..." He follows my gaze, "Brandy that's a literal box...we cannot put her in there. There has to be somewhere else..." I look around for any other possible option. I sigh and shake my head, "If there was any other place then I would put her there...if we don't want to make it worse for her, we have to put her where he wants...she'd sedated so she hopefully won't awaken soon..." I squeeze my eyes shut feeling tears threaten to escape them, despite my efforts they fall down my face anyway. "I know...i know." I don't look up hearing him unlock the door and gently set her inside. I turn away hearing him shut the door and relock it. It felt like a dagger had been shoved into my chest, and it dipped in poison, as words and actions have been. As Anna's claws had been, as the dart had been...as it all had been.
(Hey my loves! I'm so so sorry for the wait! Writer's block seems to burden me lately..but hopefully, I will update more regularly from now on, until next time my loves! <3 )
