"May you find beauty in the afterlife"- Elyne Whitemoon

The priestess Elyne Whitemoon, wasn't always as happy and full of life as people see her. She grew up surrounded by death, and this made her stronger than many can tell.

Elyne's birth was a complicated one. Her parents, both magi, brought her to this world in secret after the sundering. Her parents had been loyal to Queen Azshara throughout the war of the ancients and betrayed her at the last minute to be spared. they defected and fled the well before the sundering. They helped rebuild the night elven civilization in the shattered world.

When Illidan Stormrage created the new Well of Eternity, they could hardly resist the temptation to use arcane magic to return to their former glory. Elyne's birth was a taxing one for her mother, who would die after watching her daughter for the first and last time. With the loss of her beloved wife, Elyne's father couldn't stand the lack of mana anymore.

He left the recently born Elyne on her own and tried to resurrect her wife using the well's power, even though the use of magic had been forbidden on pain of death. He was executed shortly after failling his resurrection spell.

Some members of the sisterhood of Elune performed his last rites along with his wife, and they realized that she'd given birth shortly before her death. It was then that they decided to send one of their members along with some sentinels to search their home. They found the young Elyne starving, and one of the sisters decided to take the young orphan.

She was initiated into the order at a young age, and was trained as a priestess for many years. Her orphaned status deeply saddened her many times during her childhood training, as during her free time some of the other elven children mocked her for being an orphan and a daughter of a couple of Highborne, who had by then been exiled off of Kalimdor  and created their kingdom of Quel'thalas to prevent further bloodshed. She found respite from her childhood issues by spending time with the elderly, and in night elven cementeries, there was something about the dead that called to her, yet it wasn't a dark intent, it was something beautiful, something pure. She was able to see the beauty in death, and how for some it meant salvation. Elyne remained on Kalimdor since she had been initiated into the Sisterhood of Elune and lacked any close relatives.

And even in the Sisterhood of Elune Elyne struggled. Given her peaceful  nature, the reforms made in the order troubled her deeply. The mandatory weapons training all sisters had was something Elyne despised. She hated violence, even if it was for the greater good. She was forced to endure it, just in case she wanted to become a sentinel or a watcher in the near future during the long vigil, specially since her healing skills were lacking and developing really slowly. Her attitude caught the attention of her superiors, some who hadn't forgiven the Highborne for what they'd done, and tried to dismiss her from the order entirely, since that new training was needed for their society. One of the older priestesses in the order, Astari, defended Elyne's views on violence considering that Elyne had been initiated into the order before Sentinel training became mandatory.

The young Elyne grew unto Astari quite fast over the following years, she finally had a friend who understood how much she despised violence, and one who didn't see her as the orphaned child of two power hungry Highbornes. During her free time, she accompanied Astari on her daily visits to the ill. It was then that Elyne found her purpose on life, something for which she would always be grateful. Spending time with Astari helped her realize that she wanted to spend time with the wounded, or terminally ill. She wanted to help those who couldn't be saved more than anything else. She wanted to relieve their pain, make them feel loved and cared for. She wanted to make them forget their loneliness and allow them to be happy during their last days on Azeroth.

Her vocation in this odd endeavour made her superior and friend Astari extremely happy, since she would have a perfect substitute in case something ever happened to her, since this role was one of the least loved by the rest of the priestesses, given that it drove them far from their temples and their goddess, and their duty was a sour one. A duty very few liked doing, they would rather celebrate the beauty of life and turn a blind eye to the passing of the ill.
