Luke’s POV

“This is horrible.” Luke looked at his outfit in the mirror. “This shirt is terrible” He ripped off the shirt and threw it on the floor. He grabbed the first flannel he saw, put it on, and glanced at himself in the mirror again. “Whatever. This works. Why do I even care what I look like? I’m just meeting my buddy for beers.” He fixed his hair, making sure his quiff was perfect, sprayed on some cologne, and walked out the door. Getting in is car he realised he was sweating, sweating really hard. “What is wrong with me? It’s literally Ashton. We’ve been friends for years, why am I so nervous?” He tried to ignore himself and blasted some blink-182 on the way to the bar.

Ashton’s POV

Ashton glanced at his watch, it was a quarter after 10, Luke was late. He glanced at his phone, wondering if he should call him. Knowing Luke, though, this was actually really normal for him. Ten minutes later, Luke walked through the door, stumbling over his own legs trying to get to Ash’s table. Ashton just laughed and stood up to greet him.

Luke’s POV

“Hey, how ya doin!? I missed ya!” Ashton pulled him in for a hug. He noticed Ash’s arms, how strong they were. And warm, so warm. “What are you thinking?!” he thought to himself, “you are a straight guy, you are not attracted to him.” Deep down inside, he knew he was, though. He had always had a thing for Ash. He had always had a thing for guys in general, actually. He was just too embarrassed, too ashamed of it; didn’t want to ruin his friendships, so he kept it inside, trying to cover it up with complete denial. “So what’s new?! Anything?” Ash asked. He leaned closer, “Any new girls?” He then leaned back and did his giggle he always did. Luke tried laughing to cover up how awkward he felt about that question. What Ash didn’t know was Luke had been having problems with girls. He wasn't really excited about them anymore, he didn't even think about them really. His attraction to guys was only getting stronger. He tried to lean Ashton away from that topic. “So, Ash, are you excited about our trip?!” Luke and Ash had planned to go on a guided group trip up in the nearby mountains the next week. It wasn't completely Luke’s thing, but he couldn’t deny that he loved being around Ash, so he couldn't turn it down. “Heck yeah!! It’s gonna be so awesome!” exclaimed Ashton, “thanks for going with me buddy, it means a lot.” Ashton did his cute dimply smile at Luke and let out another giggle.

Ashton’s POV

There was about a minute of silence when Ashton looked up from his phone at Luke. “Is he just staring at me?” he thought to himself. He noted earlier that Luke was acted odd, Luke always acted kind of odd, but this was different. Luke quickly glanced away back at his own device. “Luke, is there something you need to talk about, buddy?” Luke’s face turned red. “No..” he said in a really awkward tone, “fine, perfectly fine.” He glanced back down, hiding his flushed cheeks. “Whatever you say.” Ashton grabbed his beer and drank the last bit of it down. “I’m gonna go, dude. I’ll see you Monday at the lodge!”

Luke’s POV

Ashton reached out his hand for a shake. He shook his hand and watched him leave the bar. Luke knew he would've rather had a hug, another warm and strong Ashton hug. He shook himself out of those thoughts again, and left the bar.

Once he got home, he crashed into his bed and thought about the upcoming week. “This is gonna be so great, I want this next week to last forever. I don't want to ever go back to my sad, lonely life.” He curled up in the sheets and drifted off to sleep.
