Chapter 11: "What a way to celebrate independence day."

A hotel in Bonner Springs, Kansas

"Oh, she's gonna kill you!" I heard Ben say as I came up from the water.

I flicked my hair out of my face and rubbed my eyes, swimming over to the edge of the pool.

"I'm going to do so much more than kill you!" I said as I rested my arms on the edge. "You're a fucking dick!"

Patty laughed as he walked over to me, squatting down in front of me. He patted my wet hair.

"I'm sorry, you were just laying there, I couldn't resist," he smirked.

He leaned down to press a kiss to my forehead, and I tugged on his shoulder, pulling him forward head first into the deep end.

Ben and his wife, Georgina, were sitting on the chairs now, but they were laughing.

"Good job, girl!" Georgina said with a laugh as she got her phone out to post it to her Instagram story. "Get him back!"

I smirked, giving them a thumbs up, but when I realized Patty was coming up out of the water, I made a mad dash to get out of the pool.

"I gotta go, he's gonna kill me!" I laughed as I grabbed my phone and shoes, running off.

"AVERY!" Patty yelled, half-laughing, so I knew he wasn't too angry. "Get back here!"

I could hear Ben and Georgina laughing as Patty got out of the pool to come after me.

"Gotta catch me first, sucker!" I laughed as I ran down the hill barefoot, slowing down to walk through the lobby. Once I got to the hallway, I ran to our room. "Shit," I muttered as I fumbled with the room key, finally getting in after a few tries.

It was just a few seconds later when Patty burst into the room, causing me to scream and run over to the corner by the table, holding a chair in front of me.

"Payback's a bitch!" I yelled with a laugh as he started to walk over to me. "You had it coming!"

"Oh, and you're gonna get it even worse," he laughed as he chased me around the chair. "Come here!"

He only caught me when I tripped over one of my shoes and landed on the bed. I squealed when he sat on top of me, trying to pull myself to the top of the bed.

"G-get off of me!" I said through laughter as I tried to push him off. "I'm sorryyyyy! I love you!"

He smirked as he pinned my wrists down, leaning down to kiss my lips softly, his wet hair tickling my face as I squealed, trying to move away.

"An I'm sorry isn't gonna cut it," he smirked as he kissed down my neck, blowing raspberries right under my ear.

I screamed with laughter as my hands flew to his head, trying to push him away from me. I moved my neck all different directions. He let go of my wrists, his hands flying down to my sides, squeezing and digging his fingers into them.

"P-Patty!" I said through laughter as I bucked my hips, kicking my legs on the bed as I smacked at his arms. "S-stop!"

"Payback's a bitch," he laughed into my ear as he moved his hands, his fingers spidering up my ribs.

I managed to curl into a ball, occasionally swatting at his hands, but it didn't seem to work out in my favor.

After what seemed like forever, the tickling came to a stop. He climbed off of me, sitting next to me on the bed.

"I hate you," I grumbled with a laugh as I caught my breath, pushing my hair out of my eyes. "You're so mean."

He leaned down and kissed me, smirking against my lips.
