Chapter 22, Part 3: "We can make it work."

For someone who just got back together with the love of her life a few hours ago, I was grumpy and super exhausted because I ended up getting a little under three hours of sleep, and when it was time to load up the buses and head to Milwaukee, I just couldn't get comfortable enough to go back to bed. Even with Patty holding me.

"If you're so exhausted, why are you smiling?" Britt questioned, looking up at me on the couch. "You seem too happy to be in a good mood."

"Why are you smiling?" I questioned back, peeling a banana and laying down on the couch across from her. "I'll tell you if you tell me."

She looked up at me, the light from her laptop was reflecting off of her face.

"I had sex with Ronnie last night," she muttered quietly, not wanting any of the other people on the bus to hear, even though they were all passed out asleep. "And it was incredible."

"What?!" I started to yell then hushed down not wanting to wake anyone. "Do you really like him that much?"

She bit down on her lip, nodding.

"Yeah," she whispered quietly. "He told me that he thinks he could be falling in love with me, and I said I could be too, that I just needed a little time ... now why are you so happy??" She said with a laugh.

"Patty and I got back together," I said with a huge smile as I took another bite of my banana, swallowing before I opened my mouth again. "He let me sleep in the other bed last night, but I got scared when this really huge thunder strike shook the room. I jumped into his bed, and he eventually caved and held me, then we kissed a few times and he asked me..." I said with a blush.

She laughed, shaking her head as she stood up to grab an apple from the basket.

"I knew you guys were gonna get back together," she beamed. "Are you going to move back to Brighton with him?"

I peeked out the window when the bus stopped. It was light outside now, and I could see people lining up in the distance.

"Uh, maybe," I said softly. "I applied for a job at Monarch back home. They're looking for someone to run their social media."

"Ooooh, you could work with me!" She smiled. "Have you told Patty yet?"

I shook my head, biting down on my lip at the thought of it.

"Not yet," I muttered. "I need to talk to my mom first."

"Long story short, Patty and I broke up because he thought I was still in love with Josh because he wouldn't leave me alone, but now we're back together," I said as I held the phone to my ear between my cheek and shoulder. "And I haven't told him that I applied for a job here yet."

"Did you do that because you don't want to move to Brighton, honey?" My mom asked quietly. "It's alright if you don't. I'm sure Patty will understand."

I frowned as I started sorting the tour shirts in the bin in front of me.

"I do," I sighed. "But I didn't find any jobs or anything there that appealed to me. And I wanna keep myself busy when he's busy, I don't want to stay home all the time ... I think he knows I'm on the fence about moving, though. He's gonna stay here for a few weeks while I make up my mind."

"You need someone who's so supportive of you," she said with a laugh. "I'm so glad you have Patty out there keeping you sane on tour ... I have to get ready for work, honey. I'll see you in about two weeks when you're home. I love you."
