"-Stefan. Am I crazy?"

" I'm gonna need a little more than that, Caroline." Stefan laughed.

"Well.... You love Rebekah don't you?"

"Yes....Where is this going?"

"I'm getting to it. So, in spite of all the bad things she's done to your loved ones, you love her and don't feel guilty about it?"

"Yes. I see the good and the bad just like everyone else in a relationship does. I just focus on the good and I like what I see. So remember that when you and Klaus finally hook up." Stefan lectured, chuckling at the end.

"What!?! Stefan, that wasn't the point of this!"

"Sure it wasn't. Caroline, go get ready for dinner. I'll pick you up in an hour. I love you, control freak."

"Yeah, yeah. Whatever. Love you too, Twilight. See you in an hour and a half . I need to look flawless. Let them wait." I finished the last bit with a dramatic flourish and hung up with a smile. Time to get ready.

An hour and fourty-five minutes later.

"Caroline! Hurry up! I'll desicate before you're ready!"

"You are over a hundred and fifty years old, you can obviously wait a damn minute, Stefan Salvatore! Now, I need to to touch up my makeup and we can go."

"Caroline, you just did your makeup. Let's go." He walked up and put his hand on my arm and started yanking me towards the door.

"But, Stefan-" And he vamped me away. Damn Salvatore.

He stopped at the the mansion and let go of my arm. I glared at him and stepped away, straightening my hair.

"You ready?" Stefan asked, hand on the knob.

"As I'll ever be." I sighed and prepared myself for the awkwardness that was sure to follow. I saw the door start to swing open before Stefan turned the knob and flinched when I saw who it was.

"Hello, Stefan! Caroline. Come in." Rebekah greeted with a strained expression. I tried to smile at her, but it faded out immediately when I looked behind her and saw Klaus staring down at me from the stairs.

"Hey." I squeaked out, looking down.

It was silent for a moment until Stefan finally broke the silence, "Well, let's not let the food get cold, shall we?"

Trust Stefan to save the situation. I followed him and Rebekah down the hall quickly, avoiding the eyes I felt piercing through me.

"So, Caroline, are you ready for college?" Rebekah asked me, politely with just a hint of not giving a fuck. Stefan was giving me puppy dog eyes and it was wearing me down. We arrived at the dining room and all sat down together at one end of the table. Rebekah was obviously waiting on an answer so what the hell, let's be nice for Stefan's sake. "I am actually. Thank you, Rebekah. I've decided not to go to school in Virginia though." I smirked at the shocked look on Klaus's face and turned back to the others.

"Really? Why not?" Rebekah seemed genuinely surprised as well.

"Well, Elena and Bonnie aren't here so why stay here when there are better schools in other places?"

"Where are you planning on going?" Klaus interrupted. I'm surprised it took him that long.

"Well I applied for NYU and I got my acceptance letter yesterday so I'll probably go there. It's a great place for journalism and there are internships everywhere." I replied forgetting who I was talking to in my excitement. When I realized we were just staring at each other I turned away and looked at Rebekah. She looked really sad and wistful. Dammit. Curse my kind heart. "Rebekah?" She blinked away her emotion and looked at me. "Yes, Caroline?" I sighed and glanced at Stefan who gave me an encouraging smile. "I know we aren't exactly the best of friends, but we both love Stefan and want him in our lives and I was hoping that you both would like to come to New York with me? You don't have to, it's just that I know you like school and-"

"Of course we will! Won't we Stefan?" She practically shrieked.

"Yeah, Caroline. We will." I smiled until I saw something mischievous spark in his eyes. He began again, "But of course Klaus has to come too right? Rebekah simply won't leave without him."

I kicked him as hard as I could under the chair while Klaus replied, "I'd be delighted. Should be fun right, love?" He smirked at my obvious discomfort. I shook it off and pasted on my best Miss Mystic Falls caliber fake smile. "I'm sure we can work it out. We'll have to leave before August to have time to get settled in. It's looks like it's getting late, so I have to get going. Thank you for dinner. Rebekah, I'll call you later." My smile became less fake towards the end at Rebekah's anticipation. I walked out of the mansion as quickly as possible after that. I'm going to be roomies with my only living best friend, his semi psycho girlfriend, and her evil hybrid brother who has feelings for me. What could go wrong.

Author's Note

Okay, I suck. I didn't update as often as I should have, but I have good reasons. 1. My internet was screwy. 2. Math sucks. 3. Our school play is coming up and I have a shit ton of work to do. I should update more though, sorry for the hastily written filler chapter. I'll get to the good stuff soon I promise. Review please.
