Bang! The last body plummeted face-first on the floor. Blood gushed out of the body in the form of a rainbow and snaked it's way towards the large puddle of crimson red, mixing themselves with other people's blood. Bullets were flying everywhere above my head in all different directions, whizzing through the air before hitting someone. People were screaming at the top of their lungs due to either the excruciating pain or fear.
I crouched down behind a chair that had been flipped brutally across the abandoned warehouse and started rummaging around my jacket to find the grenade I had skilfully stolen from the enemy's men. Fishing it out, I peeked over the chair to see where I should throw it. The right, maybe, because Alex and Ryan are killing on the left and plus, it wouldn't really make a difference if I killed three useless men from my side anyway. I aimed the grenade and held it above my head. I pulled the trigger and quickly threw it, remembering to duck down and cover my ears. The grenade exploded and caused a loud explosion to echo across the gigantic warehouse. My heart started beating out of my chest, scared that I might've injured Alex or Ryan, or both.
After a long moment of dead silence, I cautiously glanced back to find everything completely destroyed. Glass from high windows were shattered into a gazillion pieces, all broken beyond repair. Bodies were laying lifelessly on top of each other like rag dolls that were thrown out due to the negligence of their owners. When I saw the familiar exanamite bodies positioned near the corner of the room my body began shaking feverishly.
"No..." I whispered, covering my mouth with my bloody hands in disbelief. My eyes were swimming as I continued shaking my head. Quickly, I ran over to both of them and dropped down to my knees. I placed both their heads on my thighs, tears flowing freely down my face.
"Alex...Ryan...I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to do this! I was only supposed to kill the enemies, not our men and both of you too!" I sobbed, tears dripping on their foreheads. Not only had I failed the mission, but I had failed them too. They were the closest people in my heart after my parent's death which was two years ago. Now, because of me, they are going to be joining my parents in the sky. My heart sank all the way down to the bottom of my feet at the thought of it. This wasn't supposed to happen. This was all my fault.Moments later, I heard the loud constant screeching of the police and ambulance's sirens. My mind started panicking. It was yelling at me to leg it unless I want to get caught and go to prison or get put up in foster care. I carefully placed their heads back on the dirty floor and kissed their foreheads softly. I then muttered a quiet last 'goodbye' before running towards the masked window and jumping out of it without another glance back. If they are not here to look after me, I can only care for myself without them.
