I fell on my bed after having a cold shower. Long journeys install fatique into my body. I toosed on my bed for a while then picked my phone and called Aman. I called twice but he did'nt answer so I thought he was busy. Actually he went to Scottland to survey the building of his father's new company.

"Ahhh I so much enjoyed the shower. So this is how you relax here? Your skin has changed girl,"Maryam admitted. I smiled.
I had to show her the use of each equipment in the bathroom as my friends did to me at school. Just then, memories of how my life was five years back flashed back in my mind, how everything changed so quick. When I didn't know all vexing people- Jidda, Dinah and of course their senior Swabir. How I played with my father, how he cracked me up with jokes, how he was always proud of me and how I so much wish he is still with me.

My thoughts were interrupted by Aman's incoming call.
"Assalamu Alaik Yaya Aman, ina wuni(greetings)"
"Save it, I really won't answer your greetings today,"he joking ranted.

"Why?"
"You are even enquiring? I have been calling you but all you did was reject my calls,"he went on on the other end.

"I'm really sorry, I was very busy so I could'nt answer."
"Hey you don't need to apologise, it's fine. By the way, are you at home?"

"Yeah."
"Okay, I'll come in five."

"What? From Scottland?" I inquitively inquired.
"I'm back in Nigeria in the morning and I can't wait to see yah so get ready. And please I don't need make up because your face spells 'natural beauty'.

His last statement forced me to blush.
"Did I say I will apply any makeup, you are a usual guest,"I spoked while laughing.
"You will know whether I'm a usual guest or not when I come to your house with my elders for a more serious talk."
That made my cheeks more crimson which earned me a suspicious stare from Maryam.

"You won't get tired Wallah."I spoke.
"Hmm I'll be right there."

"Let me say hi," Maryam more like ordered not requested.
"Maryam wanna talk to you." I handed over my iphone to her and fixed my eyes on her. After greetings, she gave me a you-are-dead glare and move away then said,"you are really making my friend blush, her cheek match tomato hue right now. What's the secret?"

I immediately jumped and forcefully seized my phone, I could hear Aman's laughter which made me more embrassed. I just hung up without uttering a word. I became annoyed and started throwing pillows at Maryam, one after the other. She ran to the door and opened it, luckily for her, she found Rayyan standing by it-about to knock. She hid behind him and you can absolutely not see her at all. She was short- like seriously short.

"You have started again right? Get ready, we are going out for dinner in ten minutes,"he announced in a fraternal voice.
"Absolutely, "Maryam rejoiced before I turned it all into a total snafu.

"No I think we should postpone it. Aman will be here soon so I can't leave the house,"

"We can make it fast, I have already made arrangements."Rayyan insisted.

"You can go with Maryam but I really have to receive my guest."I knew I sounded a bit disobedient but before apologising, I heard the door bell.
"He's here,"I ran downstairs. That was so unbecoming of me - I didn't think twice. I hurt Rayyan.

I met mother and Aman exchanging pleasantries before I sent mine. He stayed for a couple of hours before he left. He gave me a gift in a bag for me and Maryam. Rayyan didn't even came down to say hello to Aman, neither did Maryam did. It was weird because Maryam is a talkactive and Rayyan loves meeting people.

Entering my room, I saw Maryam lying on the bed as though asleep. I changed into my blue pajamas and suplicated before resting my body on the cozy bed. I tossed for minutes but couldn't sleep. I later sat up and buries my head in my hands.

"How can you sleep when you wrung someone?"Maryam spoke.
"Aren't you sleeping? "

"How can I sleep when you made my brother angry?"Maryam address Rayyan as brother whenever she cares about him much.
"I'm sorry,"I muttered. She sat up.

"Sorry? Is that all you can say? You are changing from the Zarah I know to someone else. You tend to be bizarre when talking or meeting Aman. Who is he to you? Don't you know you are a girl and you have to behave decently? You now don't care about your family and friends. Rayyan is very important in your life. Save your sorry for him,"she tossed and laid on her right side.

The sound of the Quran recitation in the parlour confirmed Rayyan's presence because mom and Aunt Zaliha were asleep. I sat adjacent to him when I reached there. His eyes were fixed on the Quran. He usually recites it differently whenever he is angry because he always tell me it subsides his anger. He actually do recite it almost every moment and I believe that was the secret behind his happy mood and self composure. That was one thing I learnt from him. He didn't stop until he reached where he wanted.

"Rayyan I'm really..."
"Zarah you don't need to say anything. That thing is now a past stuff so don't revive it."he interrupted with smile. Quran really heals.
I muttered a thank you before he said good night and we both parted ways to sleep. He made me really relived of a heavy burden and changed my mood.

Next morning
"Hello!" I softly said in an excited voice. Well, that was the first call I answered that bright Friday morning even though the number was unknown.

The short silence urged me to talk again before a masculine voice yelled.
"I never in my entire life thought you can stoop this low. I so much admire you when I first met you, but from the moment I heard you are a poor villager, I disliked you and today you gave me another reason to hate you the more. Is this who you really are?"

I was totally convinced from the egoistic and bossy words that it was Swabir. I was in a better mood to waste my time on him so I hung up that instant. I took few steps forward before my phone rang again.

"For what will you hang up my call like that, people don't do that to me,"he ranted further.
"What is really your problem? Why are you disturbing me? What have I done?"I managed to still hold my mood.

"You are a perfect pretender. If you needed money, why didn't you simply demand for it. I give money even to my enemies and you aren't part of them. You sent some thugs to me earlier and now here you are asking me what you did. Don't you even feel the slightest sense of guilt?"the ranter harangued.

"I didn't do that Swabir, I know I had issues with you but I won't go to that extend,"I objected unracously.
"How can you confess when your head is full of ego? I want to warn you to stop stalking and disturbing me, if not ..."

I chipped in halfway, "If not? What will happen? I know you don't agree that I'm the culprit and it's fine because I didn't expect you to. But I want you to listen to a simple fact about yourself. You are the one who's head is filled with ego, you feel you are above everyone because of your money. You feel no one is important and you can step on whoever you want. And for me, say whatever you want to me but know that wealth doesn't make man superior and it doesn't attract sincere respect so, watch your steps well Swabir." I rede and hung up.

"Who? Swabir again?"Rayyan spoke from nowhere.
