The next day Ebony did the chores she was given and when the dwarves all went back down into the mines she patted their heads and wished them luck. Though Six stayed behind with her.
"Can't let a little lady like ye be lonely." He said between sneezes and blowing his nose with his seemingly endless supply of handkerchiefs.Ebony thanked him for staying with her and keeping her company.
To pass the time until the other dwarves came home Ebony and Six wandered around tunnels and caves that Ebony hadn't seen before. She loved them all but they all had one thing in common. They didn't have much greenery.
"Can't go into the caves when inside be flowers and other nasty things." Six explained when they passed a cave that smelled of honey and roses. Six pulled out a handkerchief and covered his nose with it but his eyes were already watering badly. The curse that made him deathly allergic to almost everything kept them away from all the nice places Ebony wished to go to.At the end of the day when the dwarves came back covered in dust and sweaty they found Ebony sitting alone by her waterfall singing silently to herself.
Two asked her where Six was.
"He told me he was going to find me something beautiful to wear in my hair and told me not to leave the cavern so it could be a surprise." She told them.Ebony then started to prepare that night's dinner while One went to go find Six by himself and when he didn't return after some time all the dwarves went to go find the other two.
Hours had passed and Ebony was over the hot fire stirring a pot of soup when the dwarves finally returned but they all had sad faces and heavy footsteps.
They had found their missing friend deep in the tunnels in an open cave surrounded by hundreds of flowers. Six was still holding a neat bunch of them in his hands.
One knew that his friend had died from the curse because the cave had been filled with flowers all ripe with pollen.
As Ebony slowly set the table the dwarves went into the tunnels and brought back sacks of topaz and hematite. Six had loved mining those materials. Together the dwarves built a coffin and placed Six within. After sealing it tight and carrying him into the same cave where Seven's coffin was kept they all said something nice and their goodbyes before returning back to Ebony where dinner was waiting.
The dwarves ate slowly and sat close to each other while Ebony sat alone and washed the pots by her waterfall.
