Brahmaa had started his work of creation, with his thoughts he would make the most fantastic organisms. He created the rishis to help him, they were also called the children of Brahmaa. Through them he created the asuras, yaksha gandharva, rakshasas, devaas, plants, animals and humans. But he was facing a grave hurdle. The planets created, were slowly cooling down and as a result were getting slower, life on them was brcoming difficult to sustain due to loss of the shakti or life giving energy in them. Those who wer born where aging rapidly, but living a monotonous existence doing the same actions daily. They had no joy, nothingbto motivate them to set for a different course. And sadness was creeping into their hearts leading to the rise of nagative emotions on the planets. To jolt them into action, he consulted the rest of tridev and created a rule that no one created is immortal. However to ensure the species survival in the planet he decided that they will have progeny. He however couldn't decide on the interplay of energies that cause death, birth and survival. He could write fate but then also, man had a choice to flooow it or not, depending ipon their actions. He needed someone who could give energy to sustain the world, ensure correct cycle of life and death, he needed Kaali the destroyer. Kaali in her ultimate form is energy, its her energy that creates death at the end of the world. She was the only one capable of helping Brahmaa. So he meditated on Shiva and Kaali for years.

One day pleased with him, they both appeared together in their ardhanaareshwara form( half male, half female). Brahmaa explained his problem and requested their aid. So with reluctance and sadness, they seperated to infuse world with Kaali's energies, thus doing their duty to create a self sustainable world. But Shivaa was now griefstricken, Kaali had merged with the world becoming Prakriti(nature), leaving him alone. His grief made him prone to outbursts like cutting one of Brahmas five heads when he was disrepecting the vedas egoistically. So to seek solitude he went to the Kendra( centre) of the world, in Himalayas, and made the isolated Kailash, sitting in the lap of nature his abode. He didn't try building houses like the population around him, rather he was content meditating, remembering his dear consort, surrounded by untouched mountain peaks.

Brahmaa had done his duty but he was guilty of seperating Shiva from his consort, his inspiration. He made a vow to return her to him anyhow.
