He didn't come back.
Three weeks had past.....
And yet he hadn't come back.
But that didn't stop Melinda from hoping, every now and then she asked Sister Veronica if there were guests coming.
Sister Veronica took notice of this and began to question why Melinda was so interested on the guests.
She asked her a few times but all Melinda said was that she wanted to be adopted.
Melinda laid on the grass looking at the sky in the playground. She paid no mind to the girls playing and chattering to themselves.
Instead she thought about Jasmine for a while and then Alex. Alex had started consuming her mind right from the very first day she saw him.
She held on to his promise and looked forward to seeing him again. She even thought of the things they will do when he comes to visit.
She sighed and covered her eyes with her hands as the sun shone brightly on her face.
She imagined him laying next to her, laughing and talking, running around the grass, playing a game of hide and seek or swing with him pushing her forward.
A smile tugged at her lips as she thought of all the fun they will have when he comes.
She sighed again and rolled on the grass waiting patiently for the day he comes.

Sister Veronica sat in front of a middle aged woman who had come to adopt a child from the group of children she was caring for.
"Since you've met all the qualifications needed to adopt a child, there are no problems. There are only a few more processes. Once these processes are completed, the child will be yours".
"Okay that's good." The woman said.
"The only thing left is choosing the child you desire." Sister Veronica said.
"Actually about that.... I have one in mind".

Drops of rain splashed on Melinda as she laid on the grass closing her eyes as she felt the breeze whizzing past her. The other children ran into the orphanage and she couldn't understand why. She loved the rain when it drizzled, it always calmed her soul and she hated it when it came down with full force, with thunder and lightening striking wildly.
It reminded her about that night, that night in her dreams when her parents were murdered.
She took in a deep breath and thought about Alex and his promises, he had promised her that she would get adopted. She really wanted to, but she also wanted to see Alex before she gets adopted.
She heard footsteps approaching and she sat up immediately.
"Hey little girl, what're you doing under the rain?" The woman said and sat beside her.
"Uh.. Uh... Nothing."
"What's your name?"
"Me-Melinda."
"Hmmmm.... Beautiful name for a cute little girl."
"Th-Thanks."
"I'm Madison." She said removing the hair out of Melinda's face.
"So....you like the rain?" She asked.
"Ye... Yes."
"Me too. How old are you?"
