Two and a half weeks had passed since the adoption of Phoebe, and life had been easy for both Jasmine and Melinda. Phoebe's friends no longer treated them badly but instead, they acted as if they no longer existed. Jasmine and Melinda didn't complain about this though, they were so happy they were ignored and they accepted the life without Phoebe so much that they joked about it a lot.

The orphanage worked with the catholic schools in Irmo, South Carolina were it was located on the education of the children. Not all the children were accepted in these schools so the rest were educated in the orphanage by Priests and Sisters and qualified teachers who volunteered.

Jasmine, Melinda and Stephanie, Phoebe's friend were among the few children who were accepted in St. Charles Catholic school. The school was an all girls boarding school though they accepted non boarders.

The children sat in the bus that carries them to the school and back to the orphanage each day.

Jasmine sat beside Melinda who was sitting by the window.

"Melinda what's wrong?" Jasmine asked. Looking closely at Melinda.
"Nothing", Melinda replied.
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah. It's just that....
I'm just.....happy".
"Me too".

"Why?" Melinda asked.
"Because seeing you happy makes me happy too".

"Oh Jasmine you're an amazing friend". Melinda sobbed.
"You too. Let's be best friends forever Melinda". Jasmine begged.
"Yeah let's be".
"Pinkie promise?"
"Pinkie promise". She placed her pink on Jasmine's and hugged her tightly.

"Do you remember my birthday?" Jasmine asked releasing from the hug.
"Of course I remember. It's the day after tomorrow".

"Yeah. I can't believe I'll be eight soon". Jasmine said.
"Me too. You're too old", Melinda shuddered.
"No I'm not".
"Yes you are".
"Says the girl that will be eight next year".
"Yeah I'll be eight but that doesn't mean you're not old". She stated.
"Urrrgh Whatever".
"Geez I'm just kidding", Melinda laughed and Jasmin couldn't help but smile sweetly at her.

Going down from the bus, they entered Saint Charles Catholic School. The school had a large expanse of land with four main buildings. One building was used for the church, the second was used for the classrooms and laboratory, the other was the dormitory while the next building was the Priest's house.

The School was a three storey building with balconies on the second,  third and fourth floor.

Melinda was in the third grade while Jasmine and Stephanie were in the fourth grade.

"Guess what happened during English class today?" Jasmine asked Melinda. During lunchtime. They were both eating a piece of sandwich and a bottle of yoghurt.
"Um.....Mrs. Powell's large stomach finally burst into a million pieces?", Melinda asked.
"That's not it silly", Jasmine chuckled, "But it's about her though."
"So what's it?" Melinda asked enthusiastically.

"She farted in class."
"My gosh." Melinda exclaimed while covering her mouth with her hands.

"That's not even the funny part of it. You know how fat she is right? Well she turned her back and was scribbling something on the board and then boom she released it and the smell hit us all like a huge wave of tornado. I mean I spun to the ground."

Melinda laughed loudly at this.

"Wait for the funny part. When she turned around and saw our faces she said in that annoying voice of hers, 'Children what's wrong with your faces, did something happen?'.
And then she sniffed the air and said: 'smells nice to me children' ,"  Jasmine said trying her best to mimic Mrs. Powell.
