Chapter 8

Jason, Willow, and Nelson were getting football gear for when they go into the shelter.

"These are way too loud," Nelson said. "They'll wake up every Deadhead in the shelter."

"Let's just hope they're all asleep," Jason said.

"So, our lives depend on knock out gas made by Violet Adams?" Willow asked.

"Pretty much," Nelson said.

"We are so dead," Willow said.

Meanwhile...

Zora came up behind Madelynn with a bottle of water and tapped her on the shoulder. Madelynn turned around to see what Zora was offering.

"No, no! I said I wasn't thirsty," Madelynn said.

"Liar! Come on, drink up," Zora said while handing the water to Madelynn. Madelynn didn't accept the water.

"How much do you have left?" Madelynn asked.

"This is about it."

"Thank you." Madelynn took the water. A Deadhead came up to a window that they were standing beside. "And, to think that we're the lucky ones." Madelynn sipped her water after the comment and walked off.

Meanwhile...

"That's it? That's the knockout gas?" Willow asked Violet. Violet was holding an old copper jar.

"Ether, it's some strong shit," Violet replied.

"So we chuck it into the shelter?" Nelson asked.

"Yes, then it evaporates and the Deadheads go down," Violet replied.

"And, so do we," Willow said.

"No! The gas is heavier than the air. So, we wait for the Deadheads to fall asleep, wait for the Ether to settle, and then we'll go inside and get the masks," Violet instituted.

"Simple enough," Jason said.

"There has to be another way," Nelson said.

"Oh sure, we die of thirst," Violet snarked.

"Let's go get the others, we need to pick who's doing this," Jason said.

Later...

"...So, that's the plan," Violet told the rest what the plan was.

"Sounds good," Taylor said.

"Are you guys kidding me?" Willow asked.

"What's your problem?" Taylor asked.

"I'm just trying to help us-," Willow said.

"We don't need your help," Violet said.

"Oh my god! Congratulations! You've made vodka!" Willow yelled in annoyance. "We're all safe."

"It's stronger than you think," Violet said.

Willow started slowly walking towards Violet. "All it is, is a stupid potion. Do you honestly believe a bunch of genetic freaks are going to sniff than and-." Willow passed out. Violet opened the container while Willow was walking over. The Ether knocked her out. Nelson caught her before she hit the ground. Violet backed away.

"I'm thinking it works," Peter said.

"You should have warned me," Nelson said.

Even Later...

Madelynn walked over to where Nelson was sitting and offered water.

"I'm fine, I'm just dizzy," Nelson said.
