48 HOURS EARLIER
Taylor saw that the paramedics were dead then he was tackled by a Deadhead. He was able to fight him off and he found a crowbar on the ground and killed it. Another Deadhead saw him and charged after him. He got into the EMT truck and drove away before he could be harmed by any more Deadheads. Taylor felt that he was losing insulin. He drove to the nearest police station and begged for help. No one noticed him at first.
"I need help!" Taylor yelled before passing out. The police officers rushed over to him to aid him. Taylor woke up in a creamy white colored room. He looked down at his arm and saw he was connected to an IV. Before Taylor could rip the IV out of his arm and woman walked into the room.
"Take it easy, you're safe," The woman said.
"Where am I at? What are you putting in me?" Taylor asked.
"It's a sailing drip. You were severely dehydrated and we also gave you insulin because your sugars were dangerously high."
"How long have I been out?"
"Twelve hours."
"I can't be out for twelve hours. My friends need help."
"You came in alone."
"My friends are in the high school. We ran out of water yesterday. How can you let me sleep for twelve hours?"
"I can have people go get them. How many were there?"
"Seven."
"Is the school secure?"
"We blocked the doors."
"Other than water, are they safe? Do they have weapons? Can they protect themselves?"
"Just the ones we made."
"So no guns?" A man walked into the room. The woman didn't look too happy. When the man left, the woman got a bottle of water. "I have matters that need my attention. Drink slowly. I'll be back shortly to debrief you." The woman walked to the door.
"Are you sending people to the high school right now?"
"Of course." The woman walked out. Taylor took the IV out and went to open the door. It was locked. He grabbed four insulin pens from the table in the room and put it in his pocket. He then got the sailing drip stand and broke the door handle off with it. Taylor peeked out of the door. The coast was clear so he walked out and tried to find a way out. He tried the first door he saw. Locked. He found stairs and went up them. He found a room with no doors but with two white sheets covering the doorway.
"We're ready to extract." a man said in the room. "Project Wednesday participant 302 retrieved five days post-release." The man was removing someone's spine. Taylor walked away is confusion and disgust. The woman walked into the room where Taylor was supposed to be located. She saw that he broke the door handle to get out. The woman went looking for him. Taylor walked into a room and on the table, it looked like it was survivor's belongings. Taylor grabbed his stuff, put it on, and jumped out of the window landing safely on the ground. He ran back to the school.
PRESENT DAY
"Come on Taylor, we need to run," Violet said. Taylor saw all the dead Deadheads.
"What happened here?" Taylor asked.
"They were let out of the shelter. Keller tried to kill us." Violet informed.
"They are gone," Taylor said.
"Gone? They are probably assessing the situation. Taylor, what did you tell them?"
"I told them my friends were here."
"Did you give details?"
"No, I just told them my friends were here."
"We need to go tell the others." Violet and Taylor filled the group in with what happened. The woman and two men came into the school. The woman walked into the room that the group was hiding in. Taylor stood up from his hiding spot.
"Don't shoot, you got me," Taylor said.
"Walk." The woman demanded. Taylor walked out of the room with the woman. They walked into the principal's office.
"This will go a lot easier if you cooperate." The woman said while tightening a zip tie on Taylor's wrist. "Where are your friends?"
"I don't know," Taylor said.
"So, they just disappeared after you went all the way out into the smoke for them." The woman put a stapler on the button to turn on the intercom. "Hello out there. I have your friend here."
"What the hell is she doing with him?"
"And, he wants to talk to me." The woman grabbed a hammer. "Are you right-handed or left?" Taylor didn't respond. "Doesn't matter I guess. I'm going to ask you again." The woman yanked Taylor's head back. "Where are your friends?"
"Some of them turned to a Deadhead and the others left." The woman let go of his head and smashed Taylor's hand. Taylor screamed out in pain. Violet started to get very heated. "Wrong answer! Where are they?" The woman shouted.
"I told you!" Taylor shouted back. The woman smashed his hand again. Taylor screamed in agony.
"I'm going to go kill that bitch!" Violet yelled. Nelson held her back.
"You can't," Nelson said.
"I have an idea," Peter said. "I might be able to call her away if I can get to the radio." Peter went on the radio while Willow watched out. She saw one of the men, she snuck up behind him and snapped his neck.
"I couldn't get their band on the radio," Peter informed.
"It's okay, we have something better," Willow said while taking the radio off of the dead man.
"I was out for the last couple of days I don't know where they went," Taylor said.
"I need back-up in the science wing," a man's voice spoke on the woman's radio. The woman brought Taylor with her.
"That was my friend Nelson, he must have turned while I was gone," Taylor said while pointing at a dead Deadhead.
"Keep it moving," the woman demanded. They walked around the corner and saw Deadheads eating one of the men. Jason came up behind her pulled her down to the ground by her hair and repetitively punched her in the face. She caught one of his punches and broke his arm then she got up and broke his leg. Jason yelled. The Deadheads came after him. The woman ran. Willow came and chopped up all the Deadheads with her machete. The woman and man left the school thinking everyone is dead. Nelson and Peter helped splint Jason's arm and leg and Taylor's hand. Then the whole group except for Jason cleaned the school from all the Deadheads.
"At first I thought scraping gum off of the bleachers outside was the grossest job ever." Willow joked. "And, to think I killed most of these. I should probably be on the FBI's most wanted list." Nelson chuckled at her joke.
"We're screwed aren't we?" Violet asked.
"Do you really want me to say it?" Taylor asked. "Yes. We have only one good mask. We have water until they just it off again. Food will absolutely run out eventually. And, who knows how long these air filter will last until we all turn into Deadheads. Even if we get past the Deadheads, Humans are killing each other." Taylor finished his sentence with a smirk.
"Oh, thanks! I didn't even think about the air filters." Violet jocked.
"I don't even know what's going to happen next but I'm happy I'm here with you."
"I thought I lost you."
"Well, I'm here now." Violet and Taylor kissed. "I love you." '
