Marie's position

"Okay so what time is the ceremony?" I asked. "6:30, Marie you don't have to come." Aaron replied. "I know that, but I want to. Vanessa and I will be there." I said. "Wait, I thought both of you were graduating tonight ?" Aaron questioned. "No the consular said they had to reschedule because the honor plagues didn't come in on time. So that means we get to see you walk the stage." I said excitedly. "Okay so are we gonna hang out afterward?" Aaron asked. "Of course! You aren't leaving for basic training until next month. Your family has the rest of the month to sped time with you, Vanessa and I don't." I explained. "Yeah yeah, I know." Aaron responded. I look up at my doorway and see my other best friend Vanessa standing there with makeup bags and hair products galore. "Aaron, I'm gonna let you go. I got to get ready and I only have 3 hours till we have to leave." I said bringing the phone call to an end. "Okay, I'll see you after I walk the stage." Aaron responded. "Okay, love ya bye." I said. "Love ya too, Bye." Aaron said back. I ended the call and set my phone down.

"It's about time you realized I was standing at your door." Vanessa said as she walked into my room. She started setting up the hair and makeup products on my vanity. "Did you bring your dress?" I asked as I collapsed onto the bed. "Yeah, but it's still in the car. I couldn't bring it in because I was carrying everything else." Vanessa answered. "I'll go get it." I said right before I shot up and ran to her car. I have had a little crush on Aaron ever since we met in theatre, my freshman year. Aaron, Vanessa, and I are all graduating seniors. After Vanessa, Aaron, and I all become friends Aaron soon told us that he was moving to a different town not but 45 minutes away. We were on a theatre trip that day and I needed a ride home because I didn't have my license and my parents were out of town. He drove me and when we pulled up to my house and walked me to the door.

*Flashback Aaron's last day*

"So this is it?" I asked. "I'm afraid so." Aaron answered. A single tear escaped my eyes and trailed down my cheek. Aaron surrounded me in his arms and I couldn't hold in any more tears. I burst out crying and Aaron just held me. Aaron was taller than me, he had blond hair and glasses that fit his face and style perfectly. He wasn't like the other guys in my high school, nor was he like any other friend I had ever had. He never told me to shut up and go away. Never made me feel bad about texting him, no matter the hour. He always made me feel safe and was able to talk to him about anything. I cried and cried and cried. I cried in Aaron's arms right there in my garage. I pulled away from Aaron's chest and he got down to my level and looked at me straight in the eyes with his kind arctic blue eyes. "Marie, I'm not leaving you or our friendship. I'm just leaving our school. It's not like we won't text as much as we already do." He said. "I know it's just hard to take in the fact that your best friend is moving." I said still not wanting it to be true. Aaron did't respond he just wiped my tears away then stood straight up again. He was wearing his letterman jacket. He took it off and put it around my shoulders. He then went back down to my eye level. "I want you to have this." He said. "But it's your letterman..." I started to protest before he cut me off. "I know that, but I can't wear it at my new school so if I'm going to give it to anyone, It's gonna be you." He said in a very serious and sincere tone of voice. Aaron pulled me into another hug. I didn't want to let go. He was my best friend and my crush. I really didn't think he would actually leave. Here we are hugging not wanting to let go. When we finally get enough courage to let go, we said a final goodbye and Aaron kissed the top of my head. He immediately left, because if he didn't he would be here a whole other hour.

I closed my garage door and went straight to my room and collapsed onto my bed, face first into a pillow and cried. I cried for hours. When I finally got up to take a shower I took Aaron's jacket off and looked at the name on the back of it. "Taylor" I mumble to myself.  Aaron had always been proud of his families lineage. That's why he wanted to enlist and serve for a couple years before going off to Temple University to major in film production. I ran my fingers over the lettering once more before I proceeded to get ready for my shower.

*End of Flashback*

I enter back into my room with Vanessa's dress in hand. "Okay, thank you so much." Vanessa said as she took the dress away from me."You okay?" She asked pulling me out of my dazed. "Yeah, yeah, just can't believe our innocent little Aaron is going to basic training in a month." I responded. "You still have a crush on him?" She asked as she started to apply makeup to her milk chocolate colored skin. "Maybe." I answered with blush creeping up on my pale cheeks. "So what's gonna happen if he gets deployed?" She asked continuing to apply eyeshadow to her eyelids. "I don't know, I just got to play it by ear and keep ministering to him." I replied. "You're still trying to convert him Marie?" Vanessa exclaimed as he put down her makeup brush and turned around to face me. "Of course. Vanessa he doesn't have a religion and I don't want him to go to hell." I exclaimed. "And what if he continues to believe what you Christians believe is bullshit?" She asked. "Then that's his decision, not mine." I said as I shrugged my shoulders. "I haven't seen you this spiritually active since Brian." Vanessa said as she resumed doing her makeup. "Hey!" I yelled. "We don't discuss Brian." I said as I lowered my voice in shame. "Hey it's okay, you guys were cute." Vanessa said in all seriousness. "I know, I just wish he hadn't decided to be an ass." I commented. "So are you going to start doing makeup or are you just gonna wear concealer and mascara like always?" Vanessa asked changing the sensitive subject to a better one. "Of course." I laughed as I sat down right next to my best friend and started to put my oddly amazing make up skills to good use.
