We Are Out Of Each Others Leagues

Chapter one

I make my way downstairs to get some breakfast for the day. My prom for my senior year is a week away. Emma my best friend, and I are going to go shopping for our prom dresses and everything.

I sat down at the table where my brother Chad, who is a year older than I am and his best friend Mason were sitting with my dad. 

"Morning Riley." My dad says when I sat down. 

My brother just gave me the good morning sis nod. And Mason gives me this sweet, charming smirk. Gosh that dimples on his face gets me every time. 

"Morning." I smiled and nod.

I get myself a plate and put some eggs and bacon in it. I look up and Mason stares into my eyes with this huge grin on his face. I feel my cheeks turning red and I just look down, hide my face and pretend to be eating, playing around with my food in my plate.

Flashback.

"Spin the bottle Mason." Chad says to Mason. 

Mason takes the bottle and he looks around to everyone. He spins it and it twirls around in circles. Every girl in the room sits on their knees waiting to see where that bottle will end hoping it will be one of them. I just rolled my eyes at them and sit crossed legs watching my nails not to see them drooling over that that bottle may end up with one of them. 

"Riley." Chad snaps me out of my thoughts. 

I look up at him and shrug my shoulders at him. Then I look to the bottle. Oh shit! It landed on me. The bottle was a few feet away pointing directly at my direction. Every girl in there sighed an awe at this. And they were all glaring at me. Shit!

I'm about to kiss my brothers best friend. Mason comes closer to me, staring into my eyes. I was still shocked from the way that bottle hit on me. Gosh I don't know if I can do this. Kiss my brother's best friend in front of everyone. I felt my cheeks turning all red. Mason puts his hand behind my neck and he looks me straight into my eyes. Not that he is bad looking. He is gorgeous. He has brown hair and these beautiful hazel with a bit of green eyes. 

"A deal's a deal." he says staring in my eyes. I just nod. 

He comes closer and I closed my eyes. He gently brushed his lips against mine. I open my eyes and he softly kisses me. My eyes shut closed, leaning into him more. I put my hands on his cheek and we kissed for what felt like minutes. But it was just about a few seconds. He breaths out a heavy breathe before he takes his hand of my neck. He stares into my eyes and I stare back at him. Oh wow. That was amazing. Also that was my first kiss. He sighs and he lets me go and went to go sit back down. I was breathless for a while. 

"Your turn Riley. Spin the bottle." Chad snaps me out of my thoughts again. I shake my head and get up.

"I think I'm going to head to bed." I hiss out, still trying to catch my breathe. Chad nods at me and I turn around and leave to my room. I touch my lips looking back to the group of people playing spin the bottle, staring straight into Mason's eyes. And he stares back at me. I look down to the floor, my cheeks turning all red. I turn around and head to my room.

Back to reality.

That was a year ago. I will never forget that night. My first ever kiss with the boy I'm madly in love with. Mason Stark. My brother's best friend. But he is way out of my league. He is my brother's best friend. Obviously nothing can ever happen between us. Mason and Chad have been best friends since they were six years old. There is no way I can ever have him. It will be too complicated.

"Riley, you okay dear?" my dad snaps me out of my thoughts. I stare at him and I could feel my cheeks turning red.

"Oh, Um, yeah." I said staring back at my food.

"Are you excited about prom?" my dad asks.

"Yeah." I said giving him a hint of a smile.

"You have a date?" Chad asks.

"Yeah. Just some guy I have some classes with. Nothing serious." I said. I lied. I never even had a boyfriend. I wasn't interested in anyone. I just said it to get everyone off my back. Mason was my first and only kiss. 

"Just be safe." my dad says. 

I just nod at him and give a slight smile. 

"Dad is worried you will end up like the other girls at prom. Pregnant." Chad says nodding his head and laughing.

I look at him with wide eyes. What the hell Chad. 

"Nothing to worry about dad. I'll be safe." I said sarcastically. Glaring at Chad. He laughs.

"Good. I don't want to be a granddad just yet." my dad says giving me the I'm serious look.

"Dad. You really don't have to be worried about that." I hiss out half embarrassed with this conversation.

Truth is I have never had sex. I'm a virgin. I know nothing about how it is. I have watched movies about it and had dreams about it with Mason. But other than that I have no experience whatsoever. I look down to my food and finish the little of breakfast that was still left.

"You can take the truck and my credit card with you today." my dad says.

"Thank you." I smiled and I get up and hug my dad.

"Just be careful." 

I nod at him and take the keys and his credit card. I have a licence I got one when I was 16. My dad owns a wine ranch just half an hour away from California Los Angles. So where I can help I help. He and my mom have been divorced for two years now. So I help out where I possibly can if my dad is too busy. 

I walk out of the kitchen and went to my room.
