We Are Out Of Each Others Leagues

Chapter Twenty Nine

I was waiting in the living room for Mason to come get me for a while. Just then a man jumps over the balcony rail and comes into the apartment. He was masked and I couldn't see his face and he had a gun with him. I gasp in shock and just when I was about to scream he points the gun at me. And I squeal instead. 

"I want money." He says.

"In the kitchen cupboards somewhere." I said stuttering a bit. 

I lied there wasn't any money except in my purse upstairs. I needed to distract him in order to get him busy for Mason gets up or for me to do something. I need to get up and do something.

He goes to the kitchen and he opens some of the cupboards, searching for the money. And I look around to see if I can get something to hit him with. There was a vase that would work. It was a few feet away from me. But I need to get up and walk to it. 

Come on Ri. You can do this. I know your legs are tired but you need to get to that vase and hit that guy over the head and get some help. I build up some courage and the guy keeps searching for some money. I put my feet on the ground and I pushed myself up. I took a few deep breathes and then I sneak to the vase. I sneak up to the guy in the kitchen while he was still searching for the money. Which isn't there of course. I was walking normally. I don't know what it was that got me to walk normally. Maybe the fear or adrenaline. 

I get to the guy and just when I do he was about to turn around but I hit him with the vase. The vase breaks over his head and he falls to the ground. He was out. I drop to the floor to see if he was breathing. He was but he was knocked out. I get up and I run to the phone.

"Ri. What was that noise?" I heard Mason coming down the stairs. 

"Baby hurry." I yell and I dialed 911. They answer and I told them we need help and the address. They say they are on their way and Mason comes to the kitchen. He looks shock at what is happening. 

"Are you okay?" he asks looking at me concerned. I run up to him and hug him. I was shaking. He holds me tight. 

My brother and Emma comes down the stairs too and they come into the kitchen.

"What happened?" my brother asks.

"He broke into the house." 

A few minutes later the police came there and they took the burglar away in handcuffs. He just wake up when they cuffed him. 

"I'll clean up here. Take Ri to get some rest." Chad says to Mason. He gets the broom and Emma helps him. Mason nods at him and he picks me up in his arms.

Mason takes me upstairs.
