10 minutes to spare.
10 minutes.
God! Where is that freaking book?!
“Danielle! Hurry up! You’re going to be late for Pete’s sake!” my mom screamed.
“I know mom! Have you seen my book?” I asked loudly while looking through the underside of my bed. I heard my bedroom door click.
“Which book? Ugh.” She complained, annoyed as she joined in with me.
“My Science book,” I glanced at the clock. “Ugh. I’m going to be late! I probably should go. Bye mom,” I kissed her cheek. “Call me if you ever find the book, please? Bye! Loveya!” I said as I ran through the exit of our house and halted a cab going to our school.
**
By the time I arrived at my school, I practically ran so fast. I was late! For our first day of school, I’m late for crying out loud!
“Sorry!” I shouted when I bumped into someone.
“Watch where you’re going miss!” The guy half-shouted at me. I just continued running. When I arrived at the front of my room, I heaved a sigh, and ever so cautiously, I twisted the door knob.
“Kaye?”
“Present, sir!” Kaye said as she seemed to ask me a why-were-you-late question through her eyes. I just shrugged.
I bowed apologetically at my teacher and he just sighed and nodded. Thank God, I wasn’t scolded or humiliated.
I felt Kim nudge me. “Hey Dane, why were you late?” She questioned, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion. I sighed. “I couldn’t find that my freaking Science book. It’s so annoying.” I whispered, but you could tell I was pissed off.
“Daniel?”
“Present, sir!” I answered.
…
…
I meant, we.
I glared at the guy who answered with me and I noticed that he was glaring at me too. What the hell is his problem?!
