Part 6

He had been unobservant for what couldn't be more than only one second. He looked out for Zoro in that time because he had heard the swordsman groan out in what he thought was pain but figured then that it was only his fighting sounds.

But his opponent took that opportunity to hit him in his ribs and he stumbled a bit until he could steady himself again. He felt a stinging ache in his ribcage and tried to breathe normally but wasn't successfull.

As he tried to stand upright his opponent hit him again this time on the back of his head and Sanji tumbled to the ground. He immediatly clutched his arms around his belly to protect his unborn child.

"SANJI", it was Chopper who yelled over the place, just appearing around the corner.

Zoro who had just cut his opponent down turned towards his boyfriend and saw him on the ground clutching his stomach. He jumped over and sliced a deep cut into the chest of the man who had brought Sanji to the floor.

Chopper knelt next to Sanji and tried talking to him. More marines were coming their way and Zoro turned around to fight them off to let the little doctor look over Sanji.

Sanji was trying to get up again already and Chopper screamed for him to sit back down because he was clutching his side.

"I need to help Zoro", Sanji said through clenched teeth.

"No you have to sit down and let me do a check up", Chopper insisted "Zoro can handle those people alone".

"No, I...", Sanji took a step forward and regretted it immediatly after. One marine was close to him and Sanji kicked him away which caused more pain to spread in his abdomen and he clutched it in pain.

"SANJI!", Chopper yelled again voice full of panic "THE BABY".

And just like that the secret was out. Zoro had just cut the last marine and turned around to them.

"Baby?", he asked jaw dropping but didn't get an answer.

They were quickly moving away from the marines into a quiet ally, when Sanji couldn't go any further and sat down.

"Fuck, Chopper", Sanji cursed "I can't breathe".

"But you need to breathe, Sanji", Chopper told him "it will hurt the baby. Breathe Sanji. In and out".

Sanji tried to focus on Chopper's breathing but it wouldn't work.

"I... can't", Sanji gasped for air and Zoro noticed the misery his boyfriend was in and settled down on the ground behind him so Sanji could lean back against his chest.

He forgot about the mentioning of a baby for now and focused on helping Sanji breathe. Because that was definetly the most urgent matter at hand. One of his hands held Sanji's chest and the other lay on his forehead.

"Breathe Sanji", Zoro whispered into his ear "breathe with me. In and out. See. It's not that hard you can do it. In and out. You are doing great".

With Zoro's help Sanji was able to breathe again and he relaxed slightly against the other man.

"Feeling better?", Zoro asked concerned.

"Yeah", Sanji mumbled "thank you, mosshead".

With those words Zoro knew Sanji was okay and smirked at the cook. Even after they got together they used their teasing pet names for each other.

"Sanji, are you okay?", Chopper asked panicked and the cook nodded.

"I am fine I guess. You should check on me later though", he smiled at the reindeer "but I think I have to talk to Zoro now".

"I am sorry it slipped", the little doctor mumbled looking down to the floor.

"It's alright, Chopper. He is the first one I wanted to tell anyway", Sanji smiled brightly although he was still in pain.

"Does that mean...", Chopper's eyes lit up.

"Yeah and now be so kind and give us a moment, would you?", the cook asked softly and the reindeer nodded and went towards the Sunny to prepare everything for the check up.

"What do you want to talk to me about?", Zoro sounded a little bit disturbed "and what was that about a baby earlier?"

"That's what I wanted to talk to you about", Sanji let out a little laugh about the confusion of these sentences.

"Huh?", Zoro didn't understand anything of what was going on.

"Would you still love me, even if I was an abomination?", Sanji suddenly turned serious because he was self conscious about his situation.

"I could never see you as an abomination, Sanji", Zoro said and the fact that he used his real name showed that he was meaning it "but what has that to do with anything? What is going on? Talk to me!"

Sanji grabbed the wrist of Zoro's arm that had been holding Sanji over his chest until now and slid his hand down on Sanji's stomach until it rested on the slowly building but present bump.

"Gaining weight wouldn't make you an abomination", Zoro spoke up because he couldn't connect the dots. And seriously who could blame him this time? After all they were both men.

"No, but being a pregnant man will make me one", Sanji whispered but Zoro heard him clear as day.

"What?", Zoro raised his eyebrows and tried to look at Sanji but the other man had his eyes closed.

"If you don't want this...", Sanji started but was cut off.

"Stop talking right now", Zoro silenced him "are you telling me that you are pregnant?"

Sanji just nodded unable to speak because he was afraid of Zoro's reaction. He still held him to his chest and Sanji seeked comfort in that.

"With my baby?", Zoro asked and Sanji snapped and turned towards him.

"Of course it's your baby you stupid marimo", Sanji spat "do you really think that I would cheat on you?"

"Of course not", Zoro apologized for the question "is this really happening?"

Sanji closed his eyes again.

"Yeah, it is. I am sorry. I...I didn't know that it was possible...", Sanji told him "but I will keep it".

"God Sanji", Zoro exclaimed and Sanji waited for yells or him being pushed away but none of those options came "we're having a baby. That's amazing. I....how? I don't understand this...but... wow...this is our baby inside here".

Zoro moved his hand over Sanji's bump.

"A-are you happy?", Sanji asked incredulous.

"Am I not supposed to be?", Zoro asked confused then his tone dropped and Sanji could hear the sadness seeping through "aren't you happy to have a baby with me?"

"What? Yes of course I am!", Sanji immediatly reassured him "but I was afraid".

"Of what?", Zoro asked and lay a hand on his cheek. "That you would think of me as an abomination. Or that you wouldn't want kids with me or at least not now", Sanji admit and Zoro nodded silently.

"You should have known better than to think of me like this", Zoro mumbled.

"I know, I am sorry. But I was afraid", Sanji apologized "I have never been pregnant before".

"It's okay", Zoro assured him "you panicked. Happens to the best".

Zoro had really turned upside down with being rude and being cute since Sanji and him became a couple.

"You are unbelieveably cute sometimes", Sanji smiled and kissed the swordsman's lips shortly.

"Hey Sanji?", Zoro said after parting from him.

"What?", Sanji asked.

"You make me the happiest person in the world", Zoro leant in again and Sanji smiled into the kiss as he was blushing furiously.
