Recently, the idea of liberty struck me. I thought about it for a long time and what it meant to me. To me, liberty means having the freedom to be who you want to be. To not have to live up to societies, or even just one person's, expectations of who you are or who you should be. To wear what you want to wear without worrying about what others think of you. To look how you look without prejudice and criticism from society because you don't meet their perfect standards. To do what you love without people expecting you to be them or live dreams more reasonable and attainable because your dreams are too bright and colorful and maybe seem impossible to those who lack imagination. And to love who you do without being hated by society as a whole and people you haven't met just because you aren't like them. To me, liberty means having the freedom to be one in 7 billion unapologetically. And so I express my idea of liberty through my words, actions, and attitude. I wear what I like to wear, not what's trendy or cool. I embrace how I look without shame. I follow my dreams and create exciting goals for myself in hopes of one day reaching and exceeding those goals, only to make new ones. And I hold my head high and love my friends and family for who they are without shame. I nerd out over books and theater and Marvel movies and I don't care if people get it or like it. I'm one in 7 billion. People can't live for others. People need to live for themselves. And society needs to encourage this. Everyone must remind others to truly be who they are otherwise they'll wind up miserable. Don't be the person you think everyone will love. Be the person that you will love.
