Norah Jones as Ria Kapoor---->
The sound of alarm wakes me up but truthfully, I haven't slept for a second last night. You ask me why? Well how could I sleep when it's THE BIG DAY. No...no...it's not my wedding. Although my parents would be glad if I could just find a decent boyfriend because apparently, I'm the only one in the family who's had a scarcity of boyfriend...according my mom...my dad however is fine with it...actually he's somewhat happy about it.
Stop...I'm going off the track. So yeah, it's a big day because... today I will start my job as a Human Resources Intern in my dream company THE WHITMAN CORPORATION. Whitman corporation is the top most company dealing into almost fifteen industries with offices all around the globe. They have more than 50000 employees and have been featured in Forbes almost every time. So, when I received an email from their HR department about the internship, I was super excited and extremely nervous, I mean who wouldn't be? Right?
I do my morning ritual and get ready for my first day. As far as my looks go... I'm fine. I mean... I have dark brown hairs, brown eyes and decent figure. I'm wearing a grey pencil skirt with soft white blouse, small studs in my ear and black kitten heels... trust me if it's up to me I'd rather wear shoes but have to make an impression. I tie my hairs in a bun and make my way to the kitchen. Dad is reading newspaper as always while Ma is preparing breakfast. I know what you all are going to say that why the hell I'm still living with my parents? Well for those who has yet to discover my name, I'm Ria Kapoor...daughter of Sanjay and Daniella Martin Kapoor. I am of an Indian origin and even though my grandpa was the one who came to New York first, my family has evolved but hasn't given up on their tradition. And I'm proud of it because my family shares love and joy with each other and every member is important.
"Yo...someone's ready for their big day" Sid says while giving me a hug from behind. Oh yeah, I have two brothers...one older and another younger than me and trust me... it doesn't get easy but I love them.
"I'm super nervous but yeah, I'm ready" I smile at him while munching on my breakfast which is my favorite Blueberry pancakes.
"you don't need to darling, you're going to rock it although I still think you should join our family business" Oh yeah...how could I forgot to tell you, ever since I've graduated with my business degree. My dad keeps me reminding that I should use that degree to expand our family business, He owns a chain of Indian restaurants across India and America...And as usual I keep rejecting it.
"Dad, I've told you so many times I need to have real experience where I would not be pampered every second". I smile at him softly.
"Let her do what she wants Sanjay, it's her choice after all" and that's my ma...always making my dad amenable for anything and everything. My dad met her when he was in school and fell in love with her...he says that it was love at first sight and that he knew instantly that she was his soulmate. Dreamy...I know.
"Grandpa Chris is coming tonight for dinner and I want all of you to be here by seven...understood" my mum said while giving us one of her looks. Grandpa Chris is my favorite. He has an entirely different view of looking at things and always understands me.
What can I say... he's my secret keeper and my best friend.
"I'll be here, now wish me luck", my family wishes me in a chorus.
