CHAPTER- 13

Next few days were spent in making reports, preparing documents and meetings for the planning of Mind's account. Though everyone still gave me an evil eye, they understood that they can't do anything about it and at the end of the day it's business and profits that matters after all.

I found out all the loopholes for the project and worked on them from every angle that I could. Even my mentor was readily answering all of my questions. I met Liam Aka the Asshole, a total of three times and have to say, regardless of our differences... that man is smart. I'm not saying that he agreed on everything I said...I mean he did agree on some grounds. And I wanted to dance on the spot shouting the great Ria's name for making this guy agree on my plans. But he made sure to bring me back to the reality by mocking my very next idea.

After those three meetings, even some of the staff started pitying me. Maybe they also realised that I'm a poor victim in this situation trapped with the big bad wolf. When it came to the final presentation, Liam got the entire conference room to himself and didn't allow anyone else to the meeting. When I entered the floor, everyone stopped working and looked at me. Some had pity in their eyes and some had hatred while some had curiosity on their faces as if they were waiting for another episode of their favourite TV show.

Liam was already in the room reading through the reports when I entered.

"Finally, I thought I would have to give myself a presentation" I rolled my eyes at his comment and just started setting up my things to get through this presentation.

When I was halfway through the presentation explaining him the exponential rate of manpower at Mind's corporation could've been a false record only, he stopped me by a very strange question.

"Have you eaten something?" He asked so casually as if it was normal for us and we were some life long friends. Which of course I failed to reply and only frowned in turn making him sigh.

"I didn't ask you that who invented Radium, Ms. Kapoor. I just-"

"Madam Curie" I blurted out.

"Huh?" and I flinched and realized how I've just embarrassed myself again.

I cleared my throat and said "Madam Curie invented Radium" I tried to smile at the end which I'm sure looked like I'm having constipation.

"I'm glad you know that however, it was discovered by Marie and Pierre Curie and André-Louis Debierne." I knew it was too good to be true.

Now back to the real question, Ms. Kapoor. Have you had lunch? I thought I would order something and I can order for two. After all you've worked hard on this project"

His answer makes me smile. Maybe he isn't so bad.

"You have. You've worked hard on snatching this project right out of some capable managers' hands" He laughed at his own joke. You know what? Scratch what I said earlier, he's not bad. He's the Devil.

"No, thank you. Now if you don't mind, I would like to finish this at the earliest." With that I went back to the presentation. He can go duck himself with that lunch for all I care.

Too soon it was Monday, the day we'll be leaving to china for a month. Anything can happen in this one month.

"Are you ready?" I see Ms. Rose standing at cubicle smiling at me.

"As ready, as I'll ever be" I smile back at her.

"You will do good kid, I have no doubt. And if Mr. Whitman gives you any trouble you make sure to show him his place" I like her humor even though she knows that I'm walking towards my death she's making jokes.

"An acting CEO?" She laughs so hard that everyone else end up staring at us.

"That, and a class A asshole" my eyes widen and I smile sheepishly at her.

"Now, go. He's waiting in his car for you. Safe journey and don't forget to bring something for this old lady" she winks at me and pushes me towards the elevator. I smile at her while I am nothing but a house of nervous cards ready to shatter at any moment...Well, time to face the Devil. Wish me luck.
