Secretly Different (A Naruto Fanfiction)

Chapter 18: Round 3

A few weeks of practice later
"Pervy Sage !!" Naruto complained ,"the stupid fox is jealous and not cooperating with me!"

"Oh well" Jiraiya grumbled.
"Guess I have no choice here."

He picked Naruto up and Naruto was suddenly falling off a cliff. He couldn't teleport while he was in his disguise and undoing the transformation and then teleporting would take too long.

"Kurama, help me" Naruto ordered.

'Hmph'

"You wanna die? You lazy fox!"

Even though they argued , Kurama let Naruto use the power he needed.

After seeing the power Naruto was able to release , Jiraiya decided to teach him a special power move. It was called the Rasengan.
"It's a special move created by the fourth hokage himself , don't you want to try it."

"Sure !" Naruto said.

Jiraiya showed him the move, which left him awestruck.Naruto being himself , could master it in a few hours, leaving Jiraiya incredibly impressed.

Who was this boy. The time he had spent with the boy proved that he was no genin, then why was he taking the exam?

It was the day of the final round. Naruto had found out that Gaara had become unstable and had pleaded to the proctor of the third round, to let him go against the redhead instead , but was refused. Which meant that he
had to fight against Hyuuga Neji and Sasuke had to fight against Gaara and possibly the 1 tailed beast .This wasn't good for Naruto.

Defeating Neji wasn't hard for him. But he was going to do it without raising suspicion.
The instant the match began , Naruto retreated , aware of Neji's incredible prowess with the gentle fist. Neji tried to hit Naruto on his vitals, but Naruto successfully avoided it by jumping out of his attack range. Naruto hit Neji with a bunch of shurikens but Neji deflected them with no problem. Then he confused Neji with his multi-shadow clones, while he transformed. However once Neji hit every shadow clone he realised that he had been fooled. He hit the ground, knowing where Naruto was hiding.

Naruto's undid his transformation and punched Neji right on the face. Then he tripped him. He put his leg on Neji's back and requested him to surrender.
A lot of the audience was in awe , they had never thought that the good for nothing boy would be of any good. A few members of the audience however were cursing him to be a demon fox , saying that the only reason he could defeat  was the powers of the nine tails.

Sasuke's match drew nearer and Naruto grew more axious by the second. He decided to try and calm Gaara down but the influence of the 1 tails inside Gaara made him incredibly tough to talk to.

"Gaara" Naruto said as he walked to stand next to him.
"What do you want ?" Gaara asked him.
Gaara had been trained in a similar way Naruto had been trained. It seemed to be a necessary for each jinchuuriki to be trained to control their power. Why Gaara was here talking the Chunnin exam was a completely different question.
"Gaara , please do not take fight this match."
"And why on earth should I do that?"
"You-you know why, it seems like you arent really in control of yourself right now , are you? I think the other guy is almost awake. Battling Uchiha wont do any good about it. Why don't you withdraw.
"And loose, no thank you , you little-"
"Now now , we can fight later on if it is that important."
"Oh so you're protecting that wimp?"
"No. I just don't want him to get hurt. I cant have him injured!"
"That just means you're protecting him, idiot ."  then sighed
Naruto sighed too.
"Why do you even care about him? I don't think he's even worth a minute of your day." Gaara said.
" He is worth much more than you think , Gaara. He is from the Sharingan bearing Uchiha Clan . You wouldn't know how many people could be after him."
"Who would want him ?"
" That snake Orochimaru , for instance."
"Even then why would you care?" Gaara asked " Is it because it's his kid brother, or is it because you like him or something ?"
Gaara smirked at his previous statement as he was joking but one look at Naruto's slightly pink tinted face, he realised that he had got it right.

"Next up : Gaara vs Uchiha Sasuke!" The proctor announced. " Please come to the ground."

" I'm going, Naruto, you won't be able to stop me." Gaara said and he left.

" I have to protect Sasuke! " Naruto said but Gaara was already gone.

Naruto had no say in the matter . So he decided to check on the Hokage for sometime.
As the Proctor announced the start of the match , Naruto's heart grew heavy. Something was going to go wrong and he HAD to stop it.

However Naruto did not know that the problem he was going to face was not as simple as he thought is was. Could he really do his job?

The Hokage seemed fine , so Naruto continued to watch the match, but then he saw it. On Sasuke's neck , there was a curse mark, luckily sealed with a anti-curse seal. He immediately transported himself next to Kakashi, to ask about it.
While he was unconscious, Sasuke had recived Orochimaru's curse mark on his neck. While he was away to find trails of Orochimaru, Kakashi had sealed it.

Terrible guilt came over Naruto and he sunk to the ground, hands over his face. He had failed! Failed to protect Sasuke, he was a failure! He could not even finish such an important task.

Kakashi had learnt of the events of those days through Sakura.
"Get up Naruto, its not your fault." He said, trying to comfort him
" What do you mean? ITS ALL MY FAULT!" Naruto said rather loudly .
"Naruto lets talk about it later."
" Ive failed, Ive already failed!"
"Naru-"
"Leave me alone for a while ." Naruto said, his voice harsh.
Kakashi did not speak back.

Naruto sighed and looked back at the Hokage's stall, but what he saw wasn't anything good.

Anyways hows it going?
I finally got myself to finish this. Im rewatching Naruto, which has been a big help. I also have some other book ideas,(not necessarily Naruto related and might be xreader)
so maybe just maybe I'll make a timetable and update regularly. I hope i do. Enjoy my story. I thank y'all for supporting it this far.
