A young couple entered the bar, and I breathed a huge sigh of relief. I was trying to not to draw any attention to myself, enough people had stared at me as I had burst through the doors earlier. I finished my shandy, slowly, and left the bar. As I exited I looked around me, no sign of the man for now. The snooker club was the next nearest place, so I headed there. I knew a few of the staff there, from when the boy and I had hung out now and then. Jase was working reception when I walked in. He was in his early thirties, and had worked at the snooker club for around five years. He was tall, about six feet I would guess, with brown eyes and brown hair.
"Hey Jase, hows things?"
"Not too bad. Better now the weathers not so bad anymore. How are you and Rachel?" He asked.
"Not so good, well Rachel isn't. We had a bit of an accident a short while back, and she ended up with a collapsed lung and fractured rib. She's mending now though."
"Oh bloody heck, that doesn't sound good. Were you hurt?"
"Concussion and whiplash but I'm ok. We swerved from a deer in the road and rear ended a tree stump." I explained.
"Deer around here?" Jase looked puzzled.
"No. We had been to Wales over night and it was on the way back."
"Ah right, I was gonna say I've not seen deer around here. Are you on your own today then?"
"I'm not here to play snooker today. I don't know if you've heard but Brandyn's been missing for a good few weeks now?"
"Yeah I did hear on the grape vine. Don't tell me that's what you girls went to Wales for?"
Jase asked, raising one eyebrow at me."Ok I won't then," I laughed. "I was wondering if you'd seen him at all, and also if you'd put a poster up in here?"
"No and yes. I've not seen him. But you're more than welcome to put a poster up. Or put a few around the place if you prefer." He offered.
"Is it ok to put one on the door perhaps? Seems the best place where most people will see it."
"Of course, help yourself. Have you tried calling Tim, the lad that's sometimes in here with you all? He might not have seen Brandyn but it's got to be worth a try."
"You know I hadn't even thought to call Tim, thanks for the idea though. I'm sure I've still got his number. Anything is worth a go."
"If I think of anything, or if I do happen to see him, I'll call you. We have your number on your registration details."
"Thanks Jase you're the best."
"I know hahaha. Anything we can do just call ok? And say Hi to Rachel from me, and tell her to get better soon."
"I will. Thanks Jase."
I put the poster up on the back of the doors as I left. There were some more bars in town, and I figured while I was out I may as well call in them all. It wasn't like I hadn't anything else to do, and at least this way I felt like I was doing something useful. Tim had been a friend of ours for about two years now, we met him in the snooker club when he joined. He was a nice man, three years older than me, tall, dark hair and a smile that lit up his entire face. I liked him a lot, as a friend. He had once asked me to go on a date with him, I had politely refused a date, explaining I had a thing for Brandyn, but agreed to go on a friends date with him. It had been a great evening. Tim had taken me for a meal before the Cinema, and then we went to the snooker club. We had both enjoyed it so much that we did it again now and then. He loved horror films just like me. Rachel didn't much like them, so it was nice to have someone to go to the cinema with if a new one was coming out that I wanted to see. I pulled my phone from my bag and rang Tim, all the while walking to the next bar.
